RAIDMAX SMILODON ATX-612WB Black/Silver 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Good looking case. I was originally going to purchase the Green LED/Black Steel but the tube LEDs that I wanted to put in it only came in blue, not purple :/

The fact that both the window side and the mobo tray can open up makes the initial operation so much easier to do.

The HDD bay swing-out feature definitely makes things easier after the PC was setup up. I can pull HDDs in and out without having to push all the power supply cables out of the way. Things just swing out.

Very satisfied.

Cons: I can build PCs with no problem, yet I had so much trouble opening the accessory box to get the HDD inserts out -- as embarrassing as it is, even the instructions didn't help much. It's a cute feature, but tedious and unfortunately not worth the stress on my side. I did away with it and used the space to route my fan controller and thermometer/aux fan lines to the motherboard.

80mm fan slot on motherboard side can harness a fan without crushing the fan or destroying the actual fan holster. Having the fan in there made things uneven and the airflow became awkward and eventually created an unnecessary amount of noise. I nixed it and kept the HDD cooler that I originally had stored in one of the inside 3.5" bays.

The side window panel scratches easily.

5 out of 5 eggs Excellent 12/01/2009

This review is from: MSI P55-GD80 LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Sharp piece.

This board was easy to work with and performs beautifully. Its overclocking wizard helps me maintain my OC on my i7-860 well.

Firm chipset. Performs beautifully.

Cons: Minor issues with updating the BiOS, but nothing really to complain about.

One of the SATA ports kinda just fell off in my hands upon operating. Luckly I didn't need all 8 ports though right?

Inconvenient locations for 3-pin fan input between PCI Express slots. I had to take everything out of each of the active PCI slots, connect my graphics cards and VGA cooling systems, and then actually insert the cards into the bays individually after installing the drivers. Somewhat of a pain.

Pros: I have ease and feel comfortable overclocking my new i7 to help increase the performance of this new build. It works quite well with my air flow patterns and can channel air through the rear ducts well.

Always keeps me nice and cool.

Cons: Massive.

The picture doesn't truly give you a good idea on how large this heatsink is.. It's rather large.

Because it is so big, I use extensions from my power supply to lower hardware power inputs because the bulkiness of this large, but truly beautiful metal architechure, takes up an extraordinary amount of space.

Its shape causes it to pour over onto my memory bays, causing me to switch out the memory cooling system I had with something of a smaller size.

Still works well.
