GIGABYTE G1 Gaming G1.Sniper Z87 LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: -Came with a disc that basically had everything you need to get started programs and applications wise.
-Green LEDs separating the audio stuff from the rest of the board to prevent leakage of audio stuff(don't entirely understand why, but the LEDs actually surprised me. it looks awesome for aesthetic minded people like me)
-It really stands by its "Ultra Durable" title. Very sturdy.

Cons: -Not sure if its supposed to be there or if I was supposed to take it off, but the IO shield had some padding on it that made it difficult to screw in the screws to the standoffs without a 3rd hand. Plus, it is smaller than a standard ATX board. On an NZXT Phantom Full Tower (Green Trim), I had to put 2 screws in the "M" standoff spot to accomodate for the 2 screws that couldn't fit in the "A" spot. Not a big deal, just didn't expect it.
-Not sure exactly how the "Killer E2200 Game Networking" works, but it's supposed to prioritize internet speeds on applications (Low, Normal, High, Very High). It really has no effects on downloading things because apps like Chrome, Steam, Origin limit the speed of download. Not really useful, but you can still use it to find out internet usage of each app and how fast your internet is. Something that you can do without.

Other Thoughts: I'm an amateur at building PCs and making them work, but I have a friend that will, for the most part, provide useful tips on how to operate it well.

A few days in, I decided to try and over clock my i5 4670k cpu from 3.4 to 3.8 through the BIOS. There's an option that says "20% Upgrade" and my friend and I thought it would overclock a little bit so we chose that option. When accessing the BIOS however, it seemed a little buggy. Some options wouldn't show up and part of the screen was just not there. On reboot, I ended up having 5 different debug codes on the Debug LED. They didn't seem too critical when I looked them up, but the problem was it wouldn't boot up to windows at all. Maybe a problem with the RAM because it's usage has been crazy lately without even running everything (Crucial Tactical Ballistix @ 1333 MHz 8GB) at 80% usage.

I ended up having to switch to the second BIOS on the first week (which, if you were wondering how on this motherboard, you have to switch 2 switches on the top right to 2 near the BIOS part of the mobo). This is a bit concerning and shouldn't have happened in the first place. I'm in the process of fixing it soon but it's quite a time consuming process.

Overall, this motherboard is solid. Only took of one egg for the BIOS incident.

Perixx MX-2000 IIB, Programmable Gaming Laser Mouse - 8 Programmable Button, Avago 5600DPI ADNS-9500 Laser Sensor
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Very surprised with the quality and build of this mouse. to think I was going to spend $40 more on a razer mouse that doesn't even have the various functions that this mouse has is absurd.
-Very Ergonomic
-Customizable everything, from lights, dpi, macros, heck, even weight

Cons: The only thing that I had to force myself to ignore was the color of the cable, red and black. would've been nice if they just kept it black all around.

Other Thoughts: If you're having trouble picking which mouse to get and/or on a budget, you will NOT be disappointed in buying this mouse. It's almost a no brainer.

Sennheiser CX 301 Noise Isolating In-Ear Headphones - Black
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

5 out of 5 eggs pretty great while it lasted 12/03/2013

This review is from: Sennheiser CX 301 Noise Isolating In-Ear Headphones - Black

Pros: Great overall sound I found that these were as good as the Red Beats by Dre Solo and that says something about the quality that Sennheiser puts out with every product. It took my by surprise how the cords worked(you put the wire over your head with the short one to the left) but you would get used to it after a few days. Great build quality and if you read a review that says that there's fell apart they probably smashed it against the wall 1000 times or something dumb.

Cons: No cons in its 8 month run

Other Thoughts: KEEP THE EXTRA RUBBER BUDS THAT COME WITH IT. at some point you WILL lose one if you're not careful! I lost one and now I can't really use it.
