Pros: Working with Unibody Macbook Pro. Apps seem faster on startup and boot up happens a little faster. No problems after finally getting it operational, so some joy to be had for the cash spent.
Cons: A struggle to get working with a MacBook Pro 5,2 version, with latest 10.6.4 and EFI updates to 1.8. Don't think the drive is the total issue, but rather compatibility with this variant of MBP. After suffering boot problems and hanging with spinning beach balls at random, I had to face the facts that the Hitachi drive would not work at SATA 3.0 speeds reliably. Changed the drive to SATA 1.5 and like magic it started working fine. But hey this is less performance than expected so one egg off.
Other Thoughts: Took a couple sessions and some googling to find the solution to make this HD and MBP be at peace. You'll need Hitachi's Drive Fitness tool to make the changes I mentioned (SATA 1.5 and disable spread spectrum) , if your bent on forcing this combo to work. Of course, I don't advocate down rating a HD's speed. Just warning upgraders to save you some struggling.READ FULL REVIEW
