4 out of 5 eggs Nippon Labs SATA Cables Revisited 02/08/2014

This review is from: Nippon Labs SATA3L-0.5FT-BK 0.5 ft. SATA III Cable w/ Locking Latch 0.5 feet - OEM

Pros: Cables worked fine. Latch securely on MB and drive. My previous review was incorrect; I was thinking of another type of cable that I bought from Newegg after this purchase. The
OKGEAR Model OK18A3RUB12 18" Straight To Right Angle W/ Metal Latch SATA 3.0 Cables are the ones that had one defective cable out of two, not the Nippon Labs.

Cons: None.

3 out of 5 eggs Nippon Labs SATA3 Cables work fine 02/08/2014

This review is from: Nippon Labs SATA3L-0.5FT-BK 0.5 ft. SATA III Cable w/ Locking Latch 0.5 feet - OEM

Pros: The cables lock securely thanks to the metal locking latch, both to the device and to the system board. Data transfers are fast, and without problems. The rounded design makes them easier to route and manipulate.

Cons: I bought two of these cables, and one of them appears to be defective. At first I thought that I had a bad OCZ solid state drive in my new build because the system did not detect the drive. I tried a known working cable (that came with the motherboard), and the drive was immediately detected. I switched to the second of the two Nippon cables of this review, and the drive was also detected and working. I bought these cables because I needed at least one with a right angle connecter for a tight HTPC build. I had to use the regular cable that came with the motherboard in the end on one of the drives since one Nippon was bad.

Other Thoughts: The cables appear to be built well. I don't know what happened with the one that didn't work. Could be a fluke.
