2 out of 5 eggs Poor reliability 03/05/2010

This review is from: Western Digital WD TV Live HD Media Player WDBAAN0000NBK-NESN

Pros: Plays video content well off of a USB hard drive and U-tube, when it works.

Cons: Not reliable. Connected to my home network through an Ethernet cable, but could not get the wireless connection to work. After 4 months, the wired network connection has also stopped working and the device freezes up/reboots after about every hour of playback from the hard drive.

Other Thoughts: I was using it for about two hours a day during the first four months and the hard drive playback worked well during that period.

Antec Mini Skeleton-90 0.8mm cold rolled steel Mini-ITX Desktop Computer Case
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Big, quiet fan keeps everything cool. Looks great (if you are a bachelor). Easy access to parts and connections. Plenty of room for crossfire/SLI, hard drives, etc.

Cons: Can fit mid-sized coolers, but not the towers. If you have a wife, will need to keep this in a cabinet.

Other Thoughts: Huge CPU cooling towers are not needed due to the giant system fan blowing strait down.

MSI Wind PC Intel 1.6GHz Atom 230 processor on board Intel 945GC Intel GMA 950 Barebone

Pros: Small, low power consumption, inexpensive to buy and own.

Cons: Sllloooooowwwww. I'm biased, as I typically build giant machines (all with Newegg parts - still the best place to go). This time, however, my wife wanted a very small machine for her use. Decided to try this, but everything takes 3x longer than a $1,000 computer. Booting, loading programs, loading web pages, etc. If you go with this, be prepaired to go back to mid-90s mode and wait for the computer to process before you click second time, or it will likely crash. Even my wife would now like to return the product and get a bigger, less asteticly pleasing machine to increase performance.
