This review is from: Patriot PCNASJV35S4 Diskless System Javelin S4 4-Bay Media Server
Pros: Inexpensive, easy to setup, looks cool, DNLA
Cons: There are numerous issues with this NAS... First off, the upload speed is very very slow. That said, I was running RAID5 so I expected upload speeds to be a little slower than usual. Still, the speeds I was getting were slow even for RAID5.
Then the real issue came up, about 7 or 8 months into owning the product I noticed I was unable to get into the Admin console through the IP I designated. They also have a dashboard console which does many similar functions and I could not access it either. I started reading some of the forums and many people also seemed to be having this issue after a few months but could not access the dashboard or management console even after doing a hard reset and going into safe mode and re-flashing. Contacted support and explained the issue, they are having me RMA the NAS. Still going through this so I'll follow up with the deets.
The only plus here is my information doesn't seem to have been wiped, after hard resetting the password changed but I am still able to access my data through the network. Now I am left in a precarious situation of moving my data to a temp drive, returning this NAS, and purchasing a new NAS and reloading the data.
Other Thoughts: If you go to patriotmemory.com you will notice that Patriot no longer seems to be in the business of making NAS's. Looks like support is running thin for this as well. I would suggest using a company like Drobo, Synology, or Netgear in the future for NAS's as they will probably be in the business for a while.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: EDIMAX EW-7416APn Wireless Range Extender / Access Point
Pros: Bought this a few years ago as a wifi repeater. Couldn't get it to work in the beginning. Did some troubleshooting on it about a year later when I decided to try it again and found it was user error. Now it works like a charm. Set it up for my father and it works flawlessly with his Rosewill router. Bridges about 150ft gap from his office to his house and between the two covers about 5,000sq/ft in a long house without a hiccup.
Cons: Setup is a little tricky, there are a couple settings you can use for wireless repeating and they can be confusing depending on how you want to bridge the connection. In the end you will probably want to use the recommend repeater setting.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: I have a pretty large Android with a massive Otter Box sized case and it fits snugly in this bag no problem. Stem mount is nice and fits on most bikes, plastic touch screen cover works swimmingly.
Cons: My audio jack is on the top but there is no gap in the case to allow me to hook up the audio cable without opening the case. The stem mount system won't work on most larger road bikes due to the inset stem and the fact that most road bike stems are larger than what this is made for. For reference I have a Raleigh Tri-Lite.
Other Thoughts: All in all I feel like this is a good product. Cheap and does what it is suppose to do. Can't complain with that.READ FULL REVIEW
