Pros: Fantastic PC! Extremely fast. My laptop arrived in "like new condition." No scratches whatsoever. Since this laptop is from a Microsoft Certified Refurbisher, the Windows 7 25 digit Activation Key on the bottom of the case worked perfectly. All drivers were installed in the device manager. In fact, a cellular wireless modem (LSI) was installed, nice. No problems at all on boot up. A thick firm bubble wrap shell protected the unit for shipping, very impressive. The price is outstanding for it's high performance!
Cons: No cons at all. You can tell that this laptop was professionally refurbished to Microsoft standards. No doubt about it.
Other Thoughts: This notebook has a luxurious smooth brushed aluminum case cover and palm rest. Touching it speaks of very high quality, no cheap plastic look or feel. I give my highest recommendation for buying this notebook. Truly a "Probook" in it's name.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: MSI X99S SLI Plus LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: Boots up with 32 GB DDR 4 2133 and 2 GTX 780's in SLI, Intel 5930K Haswell E CPU. Cooler Master Nepton 120 closed loop CPU cooler. EVGA Supernova 850 Watt PSU.
Zotac GTX 780 X 2.
Works right. Out of the box.!
The MSI X99S SLI Plus has the OC Genie which I like. Temperature stability is outstanding, running 82F - 86F CPU temp according to the Command Center App from MSI. No trouble whatsoever. Running COD Advanced Warfare in SLI. All video settings to Max. Smooth as glass in movement of players and objects, really fluid. 60 FPS. Nice!
Cons: The USB 3.0 slot on the board faces backward and the plug is hard to install. The case bump behind the mobo requires you to bend the wire 90 degrees up in order to insert the plug. The USB3 slot should face up. That's about it.
Other Thoughts: I had a lot of trouble with a Gigabyte X99-UD4 Mobo purchased from a brick and mortar store. Constant boot hangups even after re flashing with 4 different BIOS's. Even did 2 Windows 8 clean installs, problem persists. Tried 16 GB of RAM, still the same. RMA'ed the board to Gigabyte, waiting for resolution.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: What an upgrade from a Radeon 6970! Comparison tests show the 6970 to be 50% CPU FPS, while the GTX 780 is 93%. Whew!! I had to upgrade my Gigabyte x79 ud5 motherboard to Bios F13p. F12 Bios would not boot. If you have a Haswell CPU (4770, etc) you might be ok with your Bios. Otherwise, make sure to flash the latest Bios for your motherboard. Most motherboards have a bios flashing utility. Mine was Gigabyte's Q Flash. To get full PCI-e 3.0 motherboard speed on the gtx 780, go to www.techpowerup.com and download the "force-enable-gen.exe" file and run it from your desktop or C drive. This works for my Sandy Bridge E 3820 CPU. It changed my PCI-e from 2.0 to 3.0. If your motherboars is quite new, you may not have to do this. GTX 780 is Killer in my games with a massive improvment. It is that good!!
Cons: No cons whatsoever!READ FULL REVIEW
