This review is from: Acronis True Image Home 2012 - Academic
Pros: I've been saved a few times by previous versions and was devoted to True Image.
Cons: Version 12 has an awful UI and is entirely broken with regard to backups directly to NAS.
I had to purchase three additional drives to backup my three licensed machines locally and then copy the backups to the NAS.
Consult the Acronis support site for more information. This problem is the subject of several threads numbering 50 or more messages. No help from the manufacturer.
Pros: Moderate price.
Cons: My newly built system exhibited classic memory / graphics memory problems from the start. Dropped back on memory speed and processor speed. Replaced all 8GB of ram. Tested and burned in. Tested and burned in.
I suspected the graphics card all along but went through the standard checklist associated with system debugging.
Well, it was the graphics card all along. I have no experience returning items and hear nothing but horror stories in dealing with manufacturers, so this card will simply go in the trash as soon as a replacement arrives.
When it was working, there was nothing compelling about its performance. I write graphics software, BTW.
Pros: It is an interesting contraption.
Cons: I did not think one could screw up something that adapts a 2.5 inch standard to a 3.5 inch standard. I was wrong. This device makes a 2.5 inch drive the size of a 3.5 inch drive without providing anything useful to mount the 3.5 inch drive. My SSD remains mounted in this product, with the product simply suspended by its cables. The addition of four screw holes would make this unit compatible with 99% of 3.5 drive mounting methods.
Other Thoughts: Avoid this product.READ FULL REVIEW
