2 out of 5 eggs Dead after 1.5 years of use 09/19/2016

This review is from: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Writing this so others know about this... Worked fine for 1.5 years, then I started experiencing problems.

Cons: Worked fine for 1.5 years, then I started experiencing video issues. I was using a Asus GTX670, and would get intermittent blank screen crashes were the monitor would go into standby and I would need to hard-reboot with power switch. Purchased an Nvidia GTX1070, thinking that I had a GPU problem, and it did not fix the issue. I also purchased a second HX850 PSU, thinking it may be a power problem, but this also did not help. On occasion, I would boot up and the GPU fans would go to max and I would loose video output. I ran temp traces for GPU and was running at 35 C, not overheating at all... I disconnected GPU and ran with onboard video. This worked for a month or so. Most recent boot got 5 beeps and D6 code, for missing monitor/console. Can not boot with either graphics card or onboard video. Tried to clear CMOS, pull CMOS battery, no help. I have moved on and purchased a quality Gigabyte MB and new 6700K CPU... This is the 3rd MB fail from under me in 4 years with my 3770K build. 2 Ausus and 1 Asrock (realize they are almost the same company). No more ASUS or Asrock for me. Thank you.

Other Thoughts: I have been building computers for 26 years. (286, 486, Pentium I, Pentium III, Conroe, 3770K, and several in between) This has been the worst experience so far. Lets hope the 6700K build will have better luck.

Pros: - Worked without issues for 3.5 years

Cons: - Loud pop noise and screen went dark. Forced reboot loops and powerdowns intermittently. Card has finally failed.

Other Thoughts: My Ivy Bridge build was primarily based on Asus. I have had great success with them in the past (my 2006 Conroe build with Asus hardware has and is working flawlessly). For this 2012 Ivy Bridge build, I purchased an Asus Motherboard, this graphics card and optical drives. Everything that I purchased with the Asus name on it has failed. 2 mother boards (first one was DOA), this graphics card and both BR and DVD drives. I have learned my lesson. Next builds will be with a different company. Sorry Asus, you have lost my trust. Even my wife's Biostar board has outlived your high end hardware. Never again.

Pros: Worked great for 18 months.

Cons: Unstable crashes. First thought It was psu, and replaced that. Now it will only post on 1 of every 4 boots, and crashes (like loss of power), or freezes (No key or mouse input) randomly, and without warning. This is my 2nd and last Asus MB. See LAN DOA in feedback for first issue. 15 years an Asus fan... No more.

Other Thoughts: I removed all ISA cards and all drives, except boot drive. I have monitored voltages and temperature up to each crash... Nothing looks wrong. Some boots I get memory, CPU, or boot device LED lights and no post. Sometimes after crash, I have to cycle PSU to reboot. I have tried different memory... This sucks.
