Pros: It gives me the ability to add 4 internal SATA hard drives to my 4 port Gigabyte mobo.
Cons: Does not work with 3TB drives on an operating system that supports it, Windows 8 x64.
This board will not see 3TB drives as 3TB drives, it reports them as 2.2TB.
I used a workaround to get it to work by first plugging in the 3TB drive directly to my Gigabyte mobo which saw it as 3TB, initialized it as GUID and formatted it. Plugged it back into the Rosewill RC-218 and it saw it as 3TB. I thought all was well until I just last week hit the 2.2TB limit on this card. I believe when I hit this limit it corrupted all the data on this hard drive. I lost everything on it.
Lesson learned - DO NOT USE THIS CARD ON ANY HARD DRIVES LARGER THAN 2TB!
It would be nice if Rosewill would supply some updated drivers that allow this card to support 3TB.
Pros: It's worked great up until I tried to use it with a 3TB drive. Now that I put a 3TB drive on it, the system only recognizes it as a 2TB drive. Not good at all.
This is on a Windows 7 Pro x64 system with a 1 year old Gigabyte mobo.
Cons: Doesn't recognize 3TB drives on Windows 7 Pro x64.
Are there any drivers out there? Hello??
