Pros: The display is pretty good, and the laptop is faster and more efficient than my old Thinkpad X201. The battery life is about 7 hours, which is good enough for me. I like the sturdy chassis and strong hinges; this laptop can probably withstand some abuse. I like having the power cable connect on the back rather than having it stick out the side.
Cons: The screen is actually bigger than what I really needed. I think I should've bought a T430 because the extra two inches of screen size increase the weight of the laptop by about half a pound. I miss the lighter weight of the X201.
The new type of keyboard feels so different than the other Thinkpads I've had, and I don't like how the keys aren't as responsive. The locations of the PgUp/PgDown/Home/End keys are annoying, but I'm getting used to it.
Other Thoughts: Since the T430 and T530 are about the same price, I thought the extra screen size made the T530 a better deal. Now I'm not as sure because I don't really need a DVD burner. Still, my T530 does everything I want it to, and the price was okay.
So if you don't need a touchscreen, and you don't mind a little extra weight, this is a pretty good laptop.
This review is from: D-Link DKT-408 Wireless N300 Router + Wireless N300 Adapter Combo (DIR-615+DWA-130)
Pros: The router works pretty well, and it was fairly cheap. No trouble now that I flashed DD-WRT on the router.
The USB wifi adapter is okay, but nothing special. It works well enough, but so would almost anything else on the market for my HTPC needs.
Cons: The D-Link firmware is bad. It dropped connections frequently even on the wired network, not just on the wireless network! I tried flashing the latest D-Link firmware, and it didn't help at all. However, I flashed DD-WRT on the router and now it works perfectly. -1 Egg because not everyone is going to want to take the risk of bricking the router with a bad flash.
Other Thoughts: I wish I'd bought this combo a week later when it went on sale. Still a good deal for upgrading my ancient home network to stream videos to my HTPC.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: This would've been a nice laptop if it hadn't been defective. I wish newegg's testing would include TURNING ON THE LAPTOP ONCE before shipping it to some poor sucker who then has to pay more money to return it to newegg and go through the arduous RMA process. RIPOFF.
Cons: The system fan was defective, so the laptop would not boot. The BIOS reported "Fan Error" and then immediately turned off. I can hear that the fan does not spin up, even after blowing compressed air through it. This fan problem is a known defect with the T410s (search google for "thinkpad fan error"), and the only remedy is to replace the fan hardware.
Other Thoughts: The laptop appeared to be otherwise in good shape, but it was unusable and defective as delivered. I'd still like to have a T410s, but there are a large volume of complaints about system fan failures.READ FULL REVIEW
