Works great with windows 7, not so great with XP

Premiertek PT-H10DN-1W Speedy2 Wireless LAN Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g/n USB 2.0 Up to 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates
Premiertek PT-H10DN-1W Speedy2 Wireless LAN Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g/n USB 2.0 Up to 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: I bought three of these, one for each of my kids' computers. The two oldest children, who I love, have Alienware desktops with windows 7. This product worked fine with their computers, almost as if Premiertek sensed the positive and mutually rewarding relationship that my two oldest children and I enjoy. It was easy to set up and configure, conforming to anyone's expectations of "Plug and Play." The speed of the connection is fine, but they're 7 and 6, so it's not like they're discriminating, hard-core geeks yet.

Cons: My youngest child is, for lack of a better term, evil. I do not know if it is his devilish aura, or the fact that his computer is running Windows XP, but I had a hell of a time figuring out how to get this up and running on his rig. I went to Premiertek's website in search of drivers, found some, but they didn't work. No luck there. So I went to the actual manufacturer's website, which was in Chinese. After taking some classes to learn Chinese, I was able to figure out which drivers/programs I should download to make the Speedy2 work as it should. It works, but only after some gentle massaging of the settings after every boot. Definitely not plug and play on XP, although when I run through the ritual to get it running, it performs admirably. My youngest child has decided to let me live as a result.

Overall Review: If you have Windows 7, don't hesitate - buy it. XP is a bit more of a problem. The antennas are a bit flimsy, but it's not like you're going to go out in the backyard and use it to scare the neighbor's dog away from your cattle.
