4 out of 5 eggs Great case, with a couple limitations 01/24/2014

This review is from: IN WIN 904 Black 2mm/4mm Aluminum Tempered Glass ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: This case looks great. Everything is well put together, the machined parts all fit nice and tight, basically what you would expect of a $280 case. There are a couple limitations (see cons), but overall everything fits together beautifully.

Cons: Now for the cons. I'll dispel a few unknowns that a lot of people ask about first. The PSU size limit is very real. My AX 860 is 160mm and even that is a tight fit with cables. I attempted to connect the cables first but that made it near impossible to seat the PSU, it has to be angled in somewhat from the front, impossible with cables attached. getting the cables connected after its seated was kind of a tight fit, but not difficult. having a flashlight helps, its difficult to see in such a small space. If your PSU is bigger than 160mm I would say forget it, get a new one. Second, It is indeed possible to mount the rad/fan combo to the inside of the back panel to keep the clean aesthetic, there is plenty of clearance, but the cut out for the water lines made this impossible with my older model Hydro H60. The cut out to pass the lines through is not as wide as the space between were the lines connect to the radiator. On my H60 the rigid, plastic lines wouldn't bend enough to allow it to pass through when mounted so close. Right now I have the radiator mounted to the outside of the panel with a fan mounted directly in front on the inside of the panel in a push configuration. The benefit here is two fold, push is better than pull, and It acts somewhat as a case fan as well, allowing me to skip the 90mm fan altogether. Not a lot of options in 90mm anyway. Third, there's a lot of wasted space in this case. Most notably, the area above the front fan intake. Doesn't make sense really but at least it keeps the air flow unobstructed. Maybe that was the goal. The last thing that irked me was the 5.25" drive bay. If you have a drive or a reader that has a faceplate that isn't flush with the sides it prevents the drive or sled from inserting far enough to mount. There's only one set of mounting holes so short card readers work.

Other Thoughts: Right now the case is an 8/10. Its beautiful and works great for my needs. With a few design changes it could be stellar. Make a bit more space for the PSU. Not asking for a football field, just a bit more so its not so tight. Extend the cutouts on the back panel to support double length radiators. Zero reason not to do that one. Make the pass through for the water lines larger so fan/rad can be mounted inside the back panel.
