Stunning

Intel Core i7-2600K - Core i7 2nd Gen Sandy Bridge Quad-Core 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Intel HD Graphics 3000 Desktop Processor - BX80623I72600K

Pros: Awesome performance, I have mine overclocked to 4.6GHz with HyperThreading and this bad boy doesn't even get above 60C paired with a Hyper 212+. I see no bottlenecking on my GPU and I'm finally getting the most from all of my applications.

Cons: None for me. I'm completely satisfied as far as the price point and performance.

Overall Review: Overclocking is very straightforward and surprisingly simple since I am used to tweaking the FSB, voltages and RAM settings but this processor, its literally up the multiplier, up the Vcore and reboot. I was unsure if I should upgrade as I have had a 1090T for about a year, but for me this was well worth it. I'm experiencing better performance from all of my hardware and seeing better results in games and benchmarks. The price point, I feel, is perfect. You pay for a quality product that isn't ridiculously overpriced. All I can say is, I'm an Intel guy now.

Most Critical Review

Almost bricked a 780

ARCTIC Accelero Twin Turbo III VGA Cooler for nVidia & AMD, Dual 92mm PWM Fans, Patented Backside Heatsink, SLI/CrossFire
ARCTIC Accelero Twin Turbo III VGA Cooler for nVidia & AMD, Dual 92mm PWM Fans, Patented Backside Heatsink, SLI/CrossFire

Pros: -Fans seemed to work fine I wish I had more to say about this had the thing worked as intended, but seeing how all this cooler did was give me a headache I can't say much.

Cons: -Absolutely horrible installation instructions -Shoddy assembly materials (one of the screws managed to bend during install) -Caused graphical anomalies/freezing/blue screens after install After installing the cooler as instructed (GTX 780), once booting up for the first time I would reach desktop fine, but after about a second both monitors would shut off and I would hear telltale sounds that I received a blue screen error (sounds repeating incessantly). I thought it was a fluke but it continued, tried reassembling and used different fan options included but to no avail. After a while the machine wouldn't even start up. Once I reattached the stock cooler, everything worked fine.

Overall Review: I needed to buy a new GPU cooler since my current has a faulty fan and I needed a replacement. As most aftermarket GPU cooling solutions can be a risky purchase I weighed out a lot of options. Since this cooler seemed to look like a trustworthy solution, and I have purchased a similar one in the past, I tried it out. I was aware of the notoriously bad assembly instructions but since this model is newer and more parts are added this didn't help with deciphering the assembly instructions. After managing to put it all together, some of the parts didn't even look like they were coming into contact with the GPU core and it even seemed like they could short out some of the components on some contact points.. I understand that installing aftermarket solutions can be risky, and I'm no stranger to what possibilities lie ahead after purchasing one. After causing hours of headaches worth of troubleshooting, the scare of a possible bricked $500 GPU, and having to re-install the old cooler in the end, I will never be purchasing a product from Arctic Cooling ever again. I would rather have a broken GPU fan to manage than have a $500 paperweight as a result of lackluster engineering.

Back on the green team

GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) 1536MB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card GV-N580UD-15I
GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) 1536MB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card GV-N580UD-15I

Pros: Runs very cool with the special heatsink even when OC'd beyond the factory OC. I could probably push it more but it's already a powerhouse. I run the fan speed around 50% so it sits silently in my case while still providing the best gaming experience possible. Driver support is awesome, needless to say I'm back on the green team. I've always had good experiences with Gigabyte products and this is definitely no exception. For installing a non-reference cooler, Gigabyte saved me the trouble of doing so and for that I thank you.

Cons: The fan does tend to make a clicking noise when the GPU is under load at certain fan speed settings, but it's hardly bothersome to me.

Overall Review: OC'd to 860/1720/2050 @ 50% fan speed Idle - 45C Load - 80C With the red team, I had a lot of problems with drivers and general problems with the GPU's, and after giving it much much thought, I decided to splurge on the GTX580 and I couldn't be happier with my investment. If you are considering getting one, listen to your instincts and go with it.

Cooler Master HAF X - High Air Flow Full Tower Computer Case with Windowed Side Panel and USB 3.0 Ports
Cooler Master HAF X - High Air Flow Full Tower Computer Case with Windowed Side Panel and USB 3.0 Ports

Pros: Other than the obvious great airflow, has wonderful cable management so everything is aesthetically pleasing. I like how wheels are included so I don't have to carry this big sucker everywhere as I do move it often. Houses a 5970 no problem and keeps all the components nice and cool. Installation of everything went very smoothly and everything is extremely quiet. The backplate hole on the motherboard tray makes exchanging a cooler nice and easy. The red LEDs make this behemoth look intimidating and the dust filters do an excellent job keeping the interior clear.

Cons: The backplate hole in the motherboard tray sometimes doesn't line up with the socket screws making one almost out of reach on an AM3 socket. Heavy, this big guy weighs almost 60 pounds with all of the components inside the case.

Overall Review: Very well designed and the cons are not big enough for me to dock an egg. I always had an eye for this case but I was wary about buying it at first, I don't know why I was because I'm very happy I decided to go with my instinct and get this case. It is a little pricey but you get what you pay for, quality and good design. You can't go wrong with this.

Fantastic

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: The best air cooling solution I've bought to date. Took down my 1090T temperatures @ 4.0 GHz to 25C idling to only 48C at 100% load in Prime95 after 8 hours! I replaced the stock fan with a red LED one so it matched my case's color scheme. (Sorry CM but I liked the red LEDs of the HAF-X) I like how the heatsink can be mounted in any direction so that I can divert airflow to my liking and make it efficient.

Cons: Really tall, do some measurements before fitting this into your case. Definitely not docking an egg since I did my homework before buying this cooler. Fits nicely in my HAF-X and should fit in most full tower cases but always double check so you don't end up being disappointed.

Overall Review: I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to overclock but doesn't feel like setting up a water cooling kit for fear of leaks and such.
