SAPPHIRE TOXIC Radeon HD 5850 DirectX 11 100282TXSR 1GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
  • neweggOwned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: Not worth mentioning

Cons: Flickers when in a dual monitor configuration. Seems to be a consistent problem with multiple ATI cards. This Toxic 5850 flickered when bringing up windows media player.

Google "ATI Dual Monitor Flicker"

Lots of info at the AMD/ATI forums also

EVGA E758-A1 3-Way SLI (x16/x16/x8) LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard

  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: The best built/quality motherboard I've owned. Heck I was even impressed by the back panel insert. The onboard status indicator, power button switch and power LEDs are a very nice touch. I've done some overclocking and was impressed by the amount of information on the EVGA forums.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have this think overclocked to 3.5ghz on the stock CPU heatsink. I can push it to 3.8ghz without issue but I'm waiting for a aftermarket CPU heatsink before going further.

With the below rig at 3.5ghz I'm pulling 347W while running prime95 and getting a 3dMark Vantage score of 3343 CPU and 42244. Heat is 46C at Idle and at load it's 89C. Hench why I'm waiting on the new heatsink.

1 out of 5 eggs Can't get it to work with Velociraptors 09/06/2008

This review is from: GIGABYTE GA-M750SLI-DS4 AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA nForce 750a SLI ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Did not get far enough to find Pros

Cons: I was unable to get this motherboard to work with two Velociraptor drives. I tried all the drivers I could find and never was able to get Vista x86 or x64 to install. I could load the drivers and create partitions but when it went to install it would hang. After a lot of research I have come to the conclusion that the raid drives just don't work. I tried the Velociraptors in a raid 0 and non-raid config and I could not get Vista to install.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this board to replace a ASUS M3N78 motherboard for the same above problem that I could not get the Velociraptors to work with Vista.

I installed the Velociraptors on my Gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6 running raid 0 and Vista x64 without any issues. I am also able to run the Velociraptors off a Silicon Image 3132 raid controller on the ASUS motherboard running raid 0. I could not get the Velociraptor/SI Raid to work off this motherboard.

RMAing this board..
