Excellent Device

SAMSUNG Series 7 XE700T1A-A06US 4GB Memory 11.6" 1366 x 768 Tablet PC Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit
SAMSUNG Series 7 XE700T1A-A06US 4GB Memory 11.6" 1366 x 768 Tablet PC Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit

Pros: Lightweight, Fully functional windows 7(or 8) pro tablet. I ran this with windows 7 for only a few days before switching over to windows 8. I must say, on a proper device such as this tablet, windows 8 really shines. The overall speed and responsiveness of the OS is fantastic, and the user experience is great. It runs everything you would expect your standard laptop to run, and due to having a solid state drive, it does it faster than most other laptops you'll see laying around the conference table. I purchased the Samsung dock and a raised key, Bluetooth keyboard as well, and combined with those accessories, there is no reason to purchase a laptop unless you need some form of higher end graphics processing.

Cons: There really isn't much to gripe about.. The battery life could possibly be better, but due to the weight/size/power of the device, I think it would be difficult to get more out of the same form factor. It did require a firmware update for windows 8 to recognize the touchscreen properly, but that was a very painless procedure.

Overall Review: This is the proper device for windows 8 to show what it does best. It also has a solid design, feels like a quality device, and hasn't shown any real issues since purchase. I have owned it for approximately 4 months and am very pleased with this product through and through.

warning for raid

HyperX 3K 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (Stand-Alone Drive) SH103S3/120G
HyperX 3K 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (Stand-Alone Drive) SH103S3/120G

Pros: Fast, On sale frequently, comes with a tray, kingston quality

Cons: not much so far, I have a lot of these drives, less than a year old, performing well.

Overall Review: For the guy running raid0, and others considering SSD arrays, be wary that they do not run the trim command through a raid setup. your drives need to have a form of 'garbage collection' in order to clean themselves, or you will see eventual performance degradation. Read up on "garbage collection" and "trim command" to understand why these are necessary. Good Luck.

Bunch of crybabies...

Microsoft Windows 8 Professional 64-bit (Full Version)
Microsoft Windows 8 Professional 64-bit (Full Version)

Pros: Windows 8 is a fantastic upgrade from any version of windows the user would be on currently. It is considerably faster, more secure, and modern than any operating system on the market as of 1-3-2013. It also did a fantastic job of keeping compatibility with older programs, and from what I have noticed, actually does a better job than prior OSes. Boot times have been decreased. There is a new and improved windows filesystem (ReFS). many small gui enhancements (See the new file transfer window?). Networking is even easier yet. Device support and installation is very direct and straight forward. All of the old things about windows we loved and used are still here, with a new shell. The fact that the operating system is more optimized than windows 7 is amazing as well. The best thing you can do if you plan on using windows 8, is buy a solid state drive to pair it with. I had installed this on a OLD laptop. Pentium D, 1.5Gb ram, and a 120SSD (sata II). It took windows 8 like a champ, and never looked back. I was quite impressed. Overall: Well done Microsoft. For the price you're offering the windows 8 upgrade at, its definitely worth what you pay!

Cons: - There is a small registry fix required to fix the screen from timing out after 1 minute of being 'locked' - on the new start screen, would be nice to be able to right click on a tile to bring up a context menu - they could have added a feature to keep the old start menu, but the new one is better anyway, so not a big deal.

Overall Review: The only people who don't like windows 8, are the ones that reuse to adjust to change, are too ignorant to embrace anything different than what they are used to, or are just plain stubborn. If you actually sat down, and gave the OS an honest look from a non biased, open minded point of view, you would realize that there is a lot to love about this new product. It is definitely an UPgrade from any prior windows OS. Embrace the change, operating systems aren't moving backwards.. For those of you boasting XP as still being the best operating system.... I hope your 1970 Chevy Impala is as advanced as you wanted to see your cars ever become, because it's basically the same argument. (XP is 12 years old this year, live in the now)
