This review is from: Seagate Backup Plus 4TB USB 3.0 3.5" Desktop Hard Drive STCA4000100 Black
Pros: Alright Folks, Here is the deal. I ordered 5 of these puppies and have not had a problem. I loaded them into a Rosewill RSV-S5 5-Bay RAID unit. I have to say, I bought the Rosewill RAID unit back in 2010. I know, I could not believe that the drives recognized! I mean 4TB drives...WOW. I created a spanned partition to 20TB (18.1 for all you techies). Over three days, I moved 16TB of data with no issues. The transfer speed started off around 105MB per second and dropped to around 95MB... 16 hours later. Yep, 16 hours later (for each 6TB transfer). These drives just kept on receiving my data from old 6TB partitions. I have more faith in Seagate. I was a little concerned because I bought 10 3TB Seagate drives back in late 2012 and early 2013; two of them were DOA. However, I have used Seagate drives since the 1.5TB's came out, and have not have had a problem with any of them (except the DOA's). They are very robust.
Other Thoughts: I think buying any hard drive in an external case helps with lowering DOA's. Please be cautioned that once you open the external case, you might void a warranty.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Let me tell you, This drives kicks b__t. I turn on my system and before I get the TV on and to the correct channel, Windows 8 is ready to go. I use Asus motherboards. I did not even have to adjust any setting on this board to get the SSD up an running. I have always dreamed about booting from memory. Back in the 90's, I used to play around with MS DOS 6.22 smartdrive. Now, reality is great. Installing software in like turning on a light switch (once you get past the slow dvd's) This drive have been reliable. A couple of time, waking up the computer it does not go back into running mode. I do not see that as a problem because I never leaving anything open and unsaved. This drive is fast, reliable, and a great price.
Cons: Can't have the TV on and to my channel before the computer is ready!!!READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Rosewill RSV-S8 - 8-Bay 2.5" & 3.5" Hot-Swappable RAID Storage Enclosure System Bundled with PCIe Controller Card - 120mm Cooling Fan, Port Multiplier, Tray Design, RAID 0 / 1 / 5 / 10 / 5 + Spare / S
Pros: I love this unit. I have 8 2TB Seagate drives in it. All came online. No problems. I am very impressed with the speed. I am not using RAID. The drives are setup as simple-dynamic. No problems with cooling. As far as the blue light in the back - people who complain about can simply disconnect or change the fan. No big issue. I really enjoy that each drive has it's own individual LED.
Cons: I did not get it sooner.
Other Thoughts: Overall, this Unit was worth the $269 I paid for it. I have a solid 16TB external storage unit. It works well with my system and changing the drives in disk management is no problem! I built the unit with drives for $909. That is only $56 per TB!READ FULL REVIEW
