Terrible Quality Device
Pros: None. Identical to hundreds of other generic, rebadged floppy disks.
Cons: Terrible quality internals. Loses track of the connectivity to the host if there's even one read or write error. Absolutely unusable.
Overall Review: I'm super tired of having to weed through dozens of horrible generic devices trying to find one that works even intermittently. I would certainly pay a premium for a robust product. As I look down the list of USB floppy drives, they all look the same, and I bet that under the hood they are at least very similar, if not identical. This makes the buyer's search a hopeless and costly one, because it's impossible to tell which purchase might be safe. This is unacceptable. Do better.
No battery!
Pros: Fantasticallt blazing RAID card if set up properly.
Cons: Doesn't come with battery -- you risk data corruption even on journaling file systems unless you track down the right part or unless you run in super-slow write-through. Do you want speed, or do want to risk it? It's up to you.
Overall Review: Here's hoping Newegg will stock battery for this series of incredible RAID adaptors so we can use them as they were intended to be used.
An Awful Printer
Pros: Very inexpensive. Solid linux support. Small. Parallel and USB connectivity. Easy to set up. Lightweight enough to sit on a light-duty shelf. No plugs or trays sticking out of the back of the unit, so it can sit nearly flush against a wall.
Cons: Extraordinarily electrically inefficient. Uses an absolutely HUGE amount of current when operating, and even when idle. It's as loud as a hair dryer. Causes my UPS to freak out, and puts my AVR gear into cutout mode, even on the other side of a series-mode inductor surge suppressor. (Even lightning doesn't do that!) Brings a 20 amp circuit to its knees. Even idling, my AVR equipment switches in and out, in and out. I cannot even imagine how much damage it does to other gear on the same circuit. Weak feed mechanism jams frequently and requires patience and some force to unjam.
Overall Review: Machine wants a circuit all to itself. That's a lot to spend on a printer that's essentially disposable, since the feed mechanism isn't robust and will fail after a year of moderate use. Needs to be in another room if you aren't ready for a blast of noise every time you print anything.
