This review is from: D-Link Wireless AC750 Dual Band Cloud Router, 2x 5dBi Antennas (DIR-816L)
Pros: USB for media DLNA was flawless .
I tested a few HD mkv files and it played without issue.
Ran skifta, to xbox box one, the media pushed perfectly.
All the Great features of tomato firmware.
Qos, access restrictions, remote access, rules, filters, save your settings to hard drive as a bin file, just like my old router, when it comes time to update the firmware.
Dynamic DNS ,free account through dyndns. I use this to access my media server remotely by host name vs IP address which can sometimes change due to the dynamic nature.
Plex works with this, chrome cast as well, didn't need to reconfigure those units/ app.
Newer features like dual channel, all my newer device use 5ghz now, and the old stay on 2.4ghz.
The guest zone is awesome. No more password to give out or sign in.
The email feature when things change on the network is nice.
Mobile app is useful.
Ventilation grills on the front of the unit.
Works with my wireless brother 2280dw printer as well.
Cons: Plastic , light weight, no gig ports.
Other Thoughts: I came from The great linksys WRT54GL and flashed 3rd party firmware (Tomato) increased signal, overclocked, etc...
This new unit outperforms my old router and has all the tweaks I loved in Tomato. I was blown away by the useful features and it's performance easily worth it's weight in gold, no need to dream about the $250 nighthawk. This baby delivers the goods.
This will be my main router from here on out.
