LAN Went After ONLY 2 Weeks

ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard
ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Great board. Came with the most recent (not BETA) BIOS 1302 so no need to Update, no Flashing, nothing, Plug and Play.(after you install all the nVidia drivers, LAN wouldn't work without them) Not using a RAID setup, my friend has a M3A32 MVP Deluxe WiFi that we tried getting RAID to work on with XP Home and couldn't get it to read the drives in RAID so we went back to the normal setup. Everything else is fine. Southbridge chip runs real hot, 103-109c with fans blowing on it. My friends came with a little Southbridge fan and they need it.

Cons: My problem and the reason I'm here letting people know about it is, my LAN went on me after only 2 weeks. Luckily I'm only using 1 LAN (don't need the 2 with only 1 computer) so I'm not sending the MB back for a replacement, I just bought a NetGear card to replace the bad port on the MB. (I should send them the bill!) If I needed both LANs I would've sent it back and did without a computer for a week, or more. I do have my old iMac to fall back on, ha.

Great For a Month

GeIL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model GX24GB6400C4UDC
GeIL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model GX24GB6400C4UDC

Pros: Worked great for a month.

Cons: After a month I started getting BSOD while starting/playing COD4 and other games so I had to put my Corsair 6400 X2GB back in it and continue playing. Also had to manually change 800mhz, 4-4-4-12 settings in BIOS on a ASUS mb which normally doesn't need ajustments, especially with EPP for memory .

Overall Review: I bought this memory because of all the positive remarks here but my experience with Geil hasn't been a good one. I didn't even have them OCed, they were fast enough at 800mhz. Oh well.

WD WD VelociRaptor WD3000GLFSRTL 300GB 10000 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Retail

Pros: Don't complain you got the better model. Plus the SATA plug-ins are in the wrong place on the GLFS, they can't be swapped out of a HD case and have trouble with operating in RAID. The HLFS is their RAID model. HLFS Average Seek Time 4.2ms Average Write Time 4.7ms Average Latency 3ms (nominal) GLFS Average Seek Time 4.2ms Average Write Time 4.7ms Average Latency 5.5ms

Cons: SSD are taking over mechanical HDs.

Couldn't Get 4-4-3-15 Out Of Them

OCZ ReaperX HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2RPX800EB4GK

Pros: WOW!!! These bit(hes are advertised at 4-4-3-15 @ 2.1v 800mhz Well I couldn't get a 3 out of them, best I got was 4-4-4-12 but at only 1.95v 800mhz. So that was good. Same as the 2GB Corsair XMS2 800mhz I replaced with this 4GB set. Same 4-4-4-12 timings BTW. So because I couldn't get a 3 (all reviewers could?) out of them I went with mhz, I kept the 4-4-4 but upped it to 15 @ 2.1v and got 1066mhz out of them and they can go more but my mother board maxes out at 1066. Now I'm going to do some gaming, COD4, Combat Arms, etc. and put them to the test. Well I tested them for 3 hours with no problems at those settings.

Cons: One of the reasons I went with these sticks was the 3 timing they got with them. Any other sticks with 3 timings are above $200. Oh well. :~(
