ASUS RT-N16 Wireless Router 802.11b/g/n up to 300Mbps DD-WRT Open Source support with USB Storage, Printer And Media Server
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Easy to set up, Fast, Flexible

Cons: Horrible printer support with the printers I tried. Canon Pixma USB printers were tried and are very flaky. They were not multifunction, either.

Other Thoughts: Using stock firmware. Have not tried Tomato or DD-WRT yet.

ZOTAC IONITX-T-U Intel Atom D525 (1.8GHz, Dual-Core) Intel NM10 Mini ITX Motherboard/CPU Combo
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: Great little all-in-one unit. Lots of functionality. Easy to install.

Cons: The passive heatsink on this unit lead me to believe there would not be much in the way of heat generated. I can tell you, without any case this mobo runs at 57C-70C depending on load. Put this in a mini-itx case such as the popular M350 and the heat skyrocketed over 100C (!!!) before I powered down. You MUST use a fan if you plan to put this in a case, which I assume most of you will - kind of negating the passive heat sink on the CPU - the motherboard itself may be silent - but your build won't...

Other Thoughts: The T-Junction MAX on this CPU is 100C and the BIOS did not automatically power down the PC when this core temp was reached. If I hadn't been running RealTemp I would not have known how hot it was without touching it.
