Fun Testing Bench
Pros: testing bench thats fun to build. Nice quality parts, easy to assemble, 2.5" hard drive bays in addition to the 3.5", extra Slot for CD/DVD ROM. Anti-Vibration Rubber Ring suspension HDD rack. Small box light weight, great handle.
Cons: just a few, doesn't come with the USB multi-media ports. These are sold seperately as an "Upgrade Kit". So is the Fan Cooler. You have to buy it seperately. Instructions are not very good, so you have to be ok with building this thing from scrath. It does not come assembled, so get ready to put it together. was fun for me but I can see how this would be a chore for someone else. HDD support rack blocks the 2.5" hard drive tray so you will have to unscrew this every time you are mounting a 2.5" hard drive.
Overall Review: Really cool bench. Everyone who comes by my desk asks about it and it really keeps your components cool. Metal loves to attract finger prints too...not that great. used gloves to assemble.
DOA had to pay shipping
Pros: Netgear bought the readynas from Infrant Technologies and since then, the product has significantly increased in quality and support.
Cons: NAS was dead on arrival and I had to pay the return shipping!
Overall Review: Spent so much money with newegg over the past 6 years the least they could do is give me free return shipping on items that are defective. This is definately my last time shopping here.
Greatest Hard Drive Dock Ever
Pros: Wow this dock must be the best dock on the planet because as soon as I bought it, my friend borrowed it before I unboxed it and he has had it almost a month now and still hasn't returned it so it must be amazing!!!
Cons: The only con i can think of is that I haven't actually got to use the product yet. :(
Overall Review: I prob should have bought two...
Best for Home Server/Small Business
Pros: dont let other reviews fool you. You don't have to buy HP drives. The HD cages use special screws (star) but other than that the Hard drive fits fine... after all they are all standard size of either 3.5" or 2.5". Been using these servers since G6 and I can't say enough great things about em. Spend a little money on three 6tb hard drives and one 256GB SSD. They all fit great in this server. One of the other things I like about these proliants is they are scalable. Granted you buy HP parts you can scale these servers up to support a lot of different configurations.
Cons: HP Parts can be expensive. If you didn't buy support or ran out of support, replacing components can be very costly.
Overall Review: the Motherboard RAM DIMMs are built a lot more sturdy than the G7s. I use this server at home to run Windows Server Essentials and PLEX Media Server and it runs flawlessly. I upgraded memory to 16GB and added a SSD for my OS.
decent workbench
Pros: sleek, sexy look. lots of air flow, separate cage for SSDs and 2.5" HDs. room for large graphics cards, removable mobo tray and it turns into a testing bench!
Cons: case is a tight fit. I found it difficult to reach in there and tie down cables.
Overall Review: Backplane fried a TB drive because the molex power connector in the back accepts the molex connector any direction. this means if you plug it in upside down, you will reverse the electrical flow causing your drive to short out. Was pretty annoyed I didn't pay closer attention to this. Computer Specs: ASSUS VPRO GEN3, Intel 2600, 16GB Platinum 2100 RAM, 2 512 SSD Samsung 740s, Cooler Master CPU water cooler, 2 4GB EVGA GTX 680 FTW+ SLI
Not for Beginners...
Pros: -Night Vision -Connects to your wireless network (its wireless)! -has an intercom where you can listen and speak through the camera. -alarm and email notification services plus motion detection -DDNS, FTP and UPNP settings -Comes with a mounting Bracket Those are some really great features to the camera and make the price on sale very worthwhile.
Cons: Instructions are not for advanced features. They do not cover connecting to your wireless network, or any of the operating procedures. The instructions are a small booklet that has two pages. It covers a few steps like 1) position your camera and plug it into the router 2) put CD software in computer and run setup... -Setup Software is not in English. The CD that comes with the camera is used to locate the camera when your router gives it a DHCP address. WHen the CD starts up, the language is in Japanese. -Camera Plastic is glossy which to me is a con because it makes the camera more noticeable. Some may like that form of Prevention but not me. I want discretion. -Options menu is much like a router configuration All in all the camera is really great. The picture quality is good and there are some amazing features to this camera. Although the setup software is in another language, once you locate the camera and login, setting it up is much like setting up an old Linksys router
Overall Review: I bought another one after setting up this one.
