This review is from: Rosewill RC-400-LX Network Adapter 10/ 100/ 1000Mbps PCI 1 x RJ45
Pros: Installed per instructions with driver disk on Windows 2000 file server and on a second machine running Win2K-prof, XP and Ubuntu 13.04. No drivers or disk were needed for Ubuntu; just turn it on in the network pull down--couldn't be simpler.
Same vendor chipset as the old Netgear card
Works without a hitch!
Other Thoughts: Needed to increase speed between graphics server and other machines. Already had a 1 Gbit router/bridge. I now have file access speed over the network that is only bottlenecked by the speed of the hard drives on the file server.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: WD Elements 2TB Desktop External Hard Drive
Pros: Quiet, good performance when it worked.
Cons: After exactly six months, the unit began to develop irreparable bad sectors until the drive was no longer recognizable in any Windows system. Ubuntu Linux found the drive, and the Disk Utility probed the unit's history, reporting bad sectors and irreparable mechanical damage.
Other Thoughts: Still within WD's warranty after failing with just six months life. WD is replacing the unit under its own warranty. Will advise on the progress.READ FULL REVIEW
