Good card after finding a working driver
Pros: Installed Easy and works great after finding a working driver. I tested it using a USB3.0 enclosure and Terracopy, hit a max of 61MB/s copying a 4GB file. Benchmarked the same drive at 83.3MB/s vs 10.1MB/s on USB 2.0 using SiSoftware Sandra
Cons: Incorrectly labeled EC04-P, The one I recieved was a EC04 (not -P), EC04 uses a TI chip vs a Renesas chip in a EC04-P.
Overall Review: I misplaced the disc that came with the card (Because it is a mini CD) while building my computer. After installing windows I only had one device listed in the unknown section of Device Manager. I downloaded all 3 drivers for the EC04-P from silverstone's website but none would work. Finally, I decided To try the drivers for the EC04. Worked on the first try.
not horrible for the price
Pros: Cheap, can see networks from 3 houses away but cannot connect to them
Cons: distance from router to computer: 32ft signal strength this card picks up: Poor maximum connection speed: 1.0Mbps laptop sitting next to this computer- Signal strength: Excellent max connectin speed: 54.0Mbps this card has a horrible signal strength!! and it was a pain to even get it working, hours of trying different drivers from their site & microsoft and finally found one that wasn't as bad as the rest.
Overall Review: Dont waste your money pay the extra to get a better card. The RNX-A5 5dBi antenna comb'd with this card doesn't fit it.
Good Drive while it lasted
Pros: -Relatively Fast -Reads/writes just about every disc thrown at it (it did have trouble with a few Blu-rays) -UHD Friendly (or at-least it was when I purchased, don't know about now)
Cons: Stopped Reading/Writing all Blu-ray after ~2.5 years
Overall Review: I got this drive as it was a UHD friendly drive. It worked really well, and only a few discs tripped it up. However, about a week ago, the drive stopped reading and writing all Blu-ray discs, and it did so mid-way through burning a disc. I intend to buy this drive again, but for the price, I would've really liked this drive last longer than 2.5 years, I've had drives half the cost last much longer.
OK for storage, BAD for OS
Pros: Large Drive for a good price
Cons: Causes Windows 7 to BSOD when OS is installed on it
Overall Review: I tried to use this drive in my laptop (I ran out of space on my 250GB stock Drive) so I installed this drive and and a fresh copy of Windows 7 Pro x64. This worked OK for a few days then started Blue screening, a lot, sometimes as many as 5 times a day. I tried formatting and fresh installing Windows 7 twice. The only way to get my computer to stop BSOD'ing was to reinstall the original drive. I ran numerous diagnostics, drive passed them all including Samsung ES tool and Seagate Seatools. I contacted support and they simply told me "If both these tests pass then the drive itself should be in good working order." (both tests mean short and long self tests) So no help there. I ended up putting the drive in an external enclosure and using it that way. I am Highly disappointed as I have never had problems with samsung drives before they "merged" with Seagate.
Awesome travel mouse
Pros: Great battery Life, no annoying easy to loose dongle, the blue top finish shows absolutely no wear, power saving mode is great when i forget to turn it off for the night (happens 4/5 nights) Worked great with both Vista and Win 7. I don't notice any more lag than any other wireless mouse I own.
Cons: The rubbery finish on the sides is rubbing off and looks really bad, Doesn't like to be used with more than one computer (see other thoughts), the sticker with all the numbers (model, serial, etc) on the bottom is worn completely illegible. Clicking the scroll wheel doesn't act like the mice on my other computers (ie open a web link in a new tab) but this might just be a setting i can't find.
Overall Review: I have owned this mouse for 3 1/2 years, It has been a great travel mouse for my HP Laptop through college. It has been left on for days on end and I think i have only put 3 or 4 sets of batteries in it. I first bought it to use with Vista and it connected flawlessly. I then used it with my HTPC and it connected to Vista again with no problem, However when I tried to move it back to my laptop, I had a ton of trouble trying to get it to re-connect it instantly said connecting was "taking too long". When I up graded to Windows 7, once again it didn't miss a beat until I upgraded my HDD and tried to connect it to the new Win 7 Installation. Moral of the story, it's best to keep this mouse connected to just one computer.
Run Away From This Drive
Pros: Large Capacity, Decent Price.
Cons: Extremely Stupid High Failure Rate
Overall Review: I purchased one from a retail store on 1/5/09 I'm not sure of the drive model now but it was something like ST31000333(or 340)AS . In October it started making a constant clicking and Blue Screened any computer it was put in. The store exchanged it on 10/13/09. The next one lasted an amazing 84 days be fore it did the same thing. Onece again the store exchanged it, but this time it had to be ordered. I installed the drive. About 7 months Later it had 926GB worth of data on it and was once again making the same continuous clicking noise. I returned it to the store for a refund and got a different brand. ==Drive 1: Purchase online 1/4/09 picked up 1/5/09 Retail Kit #: ST310005N1A1AS Life: 10months 8days Drive 2: Exchanged from Drive 1 on 10/13/09 Series: 7200.12 Drive M/N: ST31000528AS Firmware Version: CC34 Life: 84days Drive 3: Exchanged in Jan 2010 Series: 7200.12 Drive M/N: ST31000528AS Firmware Version: CC38 Life: about 7 months I used to be a huge segate fan, not anymore
