Great CPU for the price I paid

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ - Athlon 64 X2 Brisbane Dual-Core 3.1 GHz Socket AM2 89W Processor - ADV6000IAA5DO
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ - Athlon 64 X2 Brisbane Dual-Core 3.1 GHz Socket AM2 89W Processor - ADV6000IAA5DO

Pros: 1) The price I paid!!! I got the Biostar TA790GX Motherboard and this CPU together as a combo and got a $50 discount, which means I got this bad boy for only $30! I cannot complain with that what so ever. 2) This thing is pretty beastly. It, along with my Radeon HD 4870, run all of my games on Max settings with no lag what so ever. 3) Noticable heat difference from my 90nm 2.2ghz athlon x2, this idles at 22 Celsius with a coolmaster heatsink (picked it up for $9). 4) It's an AMD. :) Who needs Intel, AMD is cheaper and gets the job done, so why pay more for brand name?

Cons: 1) This cpu has notable heat temperature mis-readings. For example: My Core 1 and 2 were idling at 22 celcius, but it said my whole CPU temp was 90 celcius, are you kidding me? Gtfo. I google'd the problem and found it was common, but it was just a mis-reading and that the CPU is fine. Other than that VERY SMALL annoyance, this has No cons.

Overall Review: I intentionally bought this for my budget gaming rig with plans so upgrade to a Quad core CPU. Although as time has passed, I'm doubting my upgrade to a Quad any time soon. This little dual core gets the job done, and it has no troubles with it (the troubles it does have are probably windows anyways). Save yourself some extra money, and buy this CPU. Or, get the Phenom II 720 xD.

Disappointed

Silverstone Aluminum Constructed Notebook Cooler NB01B
Silverstone Aluminum Constructed Notebook Cooler NB01B

Pros: - USB Powered (Comes with USB chord). - Button to turn fans on and off. - Mesh siding to suck in air from the sides for the fans. - 3 92mm fans along the top. - VERY quiet.

Cons: - (This is a big one for me) These fans do not move enough air for my laptop, I can barely feel the air they move when I put my hand above them. - a bit Bulky, but it's nothing major. - Mesh is easily bendable. - The 92mm fans have MALE 2pin connectors (most fans have female 3 pin connectors), and the fan Power Supply connects them to 3pin Female connectors, making it almost impossible to get new fans unless you power them from a different source. Payed $60 ($50 + shipping), only to come on here (THE DAY AFTER I RECEIVED THE PACKAGE) to find that they are now offering free shipping. Thanks Newegg, much appreciated. I'm still seeing the same temperatures that I was seeing before I got this cooler.

Overall Review: I bought this cooler after my laptop overheating and shutting down, and after seeing a GPU-Z picture of my Laptop running at 111 degrees CELCIUS (That's more than enough to boil water) [I have a Compaq CQ50 210US laptop]. I bought it because the top left fan is right below the vent that is used to suck air up for the GPU. Too bad for me, the fans that come with this cooler do not move enough air to make a difference in my temperatures. I do plan on taking off one mesh side and putting 3 new 92mm Molex fans on this stand and powering them through an external Power Supply (Paperclip Trick). My friend ordered this for me because I don't have a credit card. I have paypal, but Newegg only ships to confirmed addresses (requiring credit card) ><. Newegg is great, My friend ordered this on May 22nd, and I received it on May 26th (weekend and Memorial day in between all).

It all depends on what you use it for!

Sunbeam PSU-BKS580-US 580 W ATX Power Supply
Sunbeam PSU-BKS580-US 580 W ATX Power Supply

Pros: 1) This power supply actually ran when I first got it. 2) Cable are pretty long, if you consider that a pro. 3) Bottom fan sucks air up, and back fan spits it out of the case, good if you don't have a top fan in your case! 4) It was pretty cheap ($20 when I bought it). 5) 580 watts (If it's really pushing that, I don't know.

Cons: 1) Well, this thing is pretty light, which means that there's not much going on inside of it for power. 2) 1 SATA connector (which was plenty long for my Mid tower case). 3) The wires for the 20+4 pin cable were all different lengths, so if you wire it straight down, you will have excess wire going in different directions. 4) only 1 12v Rail (See Below). 5) This thing throws out a lot of HEAT into my bedroom (I don't know if it's from this, or my 4870 but it's worth mentioning).

Overall Review: 1) The 12V rails help stabilize your system. It's kind of like a CPU in a way, in the sense that the more 12V rails you have, the more equally you can distribute power without overheating / burning out 1 Rail. This is relatively the same with a CPU, in the sense that 2 cores can share the power instead of putting all the pressure on 1 core. 2) This Card only has 1 12V rail, which IS NOT ENOUGH FOR A GAMER. I hooked up a 4870 to this, and my Power Supply was fried within a few weeks (I had the GPU hooked up to an external PSU for awhile because this lacked enough Molex connectors for my Adapters). 3) Bottom line, if you use this for Gaming, you will fry it. If you're an everyday user who won't put the stress of a powerful GPU onto this card, then buy this Power Supply. I can't stress enough how important 12v rails are if you're a gamer like myself. I never noticed the importance until I fried this power supply. XD

Fail...

COOLER MASTER DK8-9GD4A-0L-GP 95mm CPU Cooler
COOLER MASTER DK8-9GD4A-0L-GP 95mm CPU Cooler

Pros: It's a heatsink, and it actually runs. It also has a 3 pin connector.

Cons: If you're looking for a good CPU cooler for new-ish processors, then this isn't for you. I bought this Heatsink because the Athlon 6000+ I bought was OEM and didn't come with a heatsink. I put this heatsink on the CPU and secured it with the stock thermal paste and it idled at around 50 celcius, that's too high for my likings. So I switched the thermal paste to Artic Silver Ceramique paste, and now it Idles at 70 celcius. The fan doesn't move close to enough air.

Overall Review: I opened up BIOS and looked at my PC health and saw that the CPU was idling at 72 degrees Celsius, and decided that this heatsink sucks. If you're going to put this on anything more than a 2.5GHZ dual core Athlon, then don't waste your time with this heatsink.

Great Motherboard for Low-Budget

BIOSTAR TFORCE TA790GX 128M AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
BIOSTAR TFORCE TA790GX 128M AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: 1) IT WORKS. 2) This board has 6 SATA ports. 3) It has 2 PCI-e x16 2.0 slots (running at x8 in Crossfire). 4) AM2/AM2+/AM3 5) Very easy to work with. This is my 2nd computer build, and besides being a little bit out of date on the new hardware, Everything went perfect for me (except installing XP on my 1TB Sata drive, but I did that before updating BIOS. Big mistake). 6) I like the software feature that comes with the motherboard's CD that allows you to update BIOS through XP. It's a time saver.

Cons: 1) Doesn't automatically detect my SATA drive while both of my EIDE connectors are being occupied. 2) Doesn't like to install XP on the Sata drive I own (It shuts down in the middle of installation, google's search results say that it's because of the sata configuration like RAID, Native IDE, etc; but I tried all the options and none worked). 3) You have to use the bottom PCI-E slot for graphics unless you're using Crossfire. Kind of smart if they're going with the theory that hot air rises, so the cold air will be on the bottom. 4) This isn't really a con, but the Motherboard doesn't have screw slots on the far right side, so when installing RAM, the board flexes really badly, and it makes me feel like I'm going to break it.

Overall Review: The only Cons that are really bothering me are the ones about my SATA hard drive. This is my 1st time installing a SATA drive, and it's a bit annoying when it doesn't work. It took me 4 hours to format my Hard Drive to NTFS in Windows XP's installation, just for the installation to fail. What a crock. I just updated my BIOS (a friend of mine also did that and his works fine), so that might have been the reason why, but I'm walking on eggshells to try it again. I bought this motherboard with the AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3.1ghz Combo, and it is an AMAZING deal. Throw 2GB of Kingston Hyper X RAM and a Radeon HD 4870 ontop of it and I can run any game at highest settings. I've played Left 4 Dead, Oblivion, and Fallout 3 on Ultra High quality, no lag in any of them. This is definatly a great purchase.

Simply Amazing

Vantec Tornado 92mm Double Ball Bearing High Air Flow Case Fan - Model TD9238H
Vantec Tornado 92mm Double Ball Bearing High Air Flow Case Fan - Model TD9238H

Pros: 1) This fan moves A LOT of Air. 2) Molex Connector (May be a con, depending on how you look at it). 3) This is basically the equivalent of me placing my air conditioner underneath my laptop. 4) Grill on the back to prevent items from getting sucked into this fan (Smart idea since this thing is like a vacuum when flipped over).

Cons: 1) Obviously this is a loud fan. It spins at 4,800 RPM and moves 119CFM. DUH! If you didn't know this fan was loud by these stats, then you obviously have some issues. 2) This isn't really a problem for me, but it's a Deep fan. I put this fan on my laptop stand (Silverstone cooler) and the cooler sits at a 12 degree angle. Well, the cooler literally rests on the edge of this fan now instead of the back supports. I put 2 video game cases behind the laptop cooler to solve this problem.

Overall Review: If you buy this fan and give it a low rating because it's loud, then you're an idiot. If you took the time to read the reviews (like I did), you would realize that almost ALL of the reviews state that this fan is LOUD. That should be a first indication that you should get a fan controller. I installed this fan on my laptop cooler (My laptop got up in the 110+ celcius temps, and the laptop cooler fans barely spun so I replaced them with this) and my laptop has gone from 112 degrees celcius to around 40 degrees celcius! Don't give the fan a low rating because you didn't listen to the obvious, it just makes it harder for others to make a decision on their purchase options. I'm not running this fan on a fan controller, pure Molex (which means it's running at Max RPM every time it's plugged in). I would suggest getting a Fan controller, or some Noise Isolation headphones.
