This review is from: SAMSUNG Series 9 NP900X4C-A03US 15" Ultrabook
Pros: With the super fast SSD within, you can see the full potential of the rest of the components that a conventional HDD would bottleneck. I don't mean to sound like a commercial using words like mind blowing fast but that's just how fast it is, especially if you're upgrading from an older laptop that used a platter hard drive. During light use such as web browsing or listening to music, the laptop is completely silent and cool to the touch. During heavier loads such as video conferencing (Skype) or multitasking, the unit becomes warmer and the exhaust fans kick in. Samsung does have an utility called Easy Settings where you could turn on silent mode which reduces fan noise.
Cons: A few minor issues:
The USB 2.0 port is too close the the DC-in port which might get in the way of pen drives, but I guess you could always unplug the DC plug or use the USB 3.0 ports.
The touchpad is quite big and sensitive (excuse me if that sounded wrong) that sometimes while typing, the base of my thumb touches the pad and it clicks somewhere else and half of what I typed ends up in the middle of somewhere else.
Other Thoughts: Samsung really emphasized on the boot speed. There is an option in the BIOS which speeds up the POST routine. And there are options in Easy Settings where you could switch off the Windows logo animation during boot up. A cold boot takes only around 10 seconds. Overall this laptop is amazingly fast, with 8 GB of RAM and 4 CPU cores. It's a big difference when it comes to multitasking compared to my older laptop. And kudos to Newegg for such fast shipping!READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Windows 7 boots up very fast
Programs installed to the SSD loads instantly
Actual benchmarks meet or exceeds listed specs
Cons: Not too stable even with the newest firmware
Other Thoughts: I updated to the latest firmware (v2.11) on my older PC before even installing Windows on it in my new build. Windows 7 finished installing in less than half the time it takes to install it on an ordinary 7200 rpm HDD. Counting from the Windows logo screen until desktop, it takes about 7 seconds. Although I never had any problems with BSOD, on several occasions Windows just stops responding. After a cold reboot the system runs fine but since I require a more stable drive, I decided to try a more stable SSD. I've replaced the SSD with another brand and haven't had the problem since.READ FULL REVIEW
Very sharp and clear
HDMI, DVI and VGA ports
Built in speakers
Cons: 1 dead pixel
Other Thoughts: Very clear LCD capable of 1920x1080 resolution. It includes HDMI, DVI and VGA ports which is also great if a friend comes over with a PS3. Includes built in speakers although I have better 3rd party sound system, but nice to have for backup. The monitor have a dead pixel which I noticed when the screen is dark, the pixel appears to be light blue against a dark screen. It is hardly noticeable so I'm happy with it. 5 Eggs!READ FULL REVIEW
