Pros: Cheap - Lots of space
Cons: FAIL - FAIL - FAIL - THESE ARE JUNK
These are a pile of mess. I have 10 drives. Within the first month 60% fail rate, 2months 70% and now about 6month, Im have 1 orginal drive still working and 9 referb replacements. The bottom line- your data is not safe. BACKUP YOUR BACKUP WITH THESE
Other Thoughts: Seagate has put the last nail in the coffin with these.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Cheap - Lots of space - Will work in a Buffalo Quad Link Station NAS.
Cons: Ordered 10 over 3 months. 6 of the 10 have been RMA to Seagate. Most drives are failing SMART 2 have flat failed and will not spin up or detect. I have these in 2 Buffalo Quad NAS in a Raid 5 config. You better have a backup with these, and not another one of these drive. They are cheap and I have 2 spares so I can make do.
Other Thoughts: The must be no quality checks. Seagate is hassle free and has replaced all drives with no issue. I paid shipping one way, Seagate paid the return.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Cheap space, ok performance if the drive works they are great. Once you get ride of the bad ones, they will work in a raid but you better have a spare.
Cons: HIGH FAIL RATE - I have 2 Raid-5 arrays (4 drives each) For the first month 5 of the 8 drive were replaced by seagate. They all failed smart. Most dismounted from the array because of write failure or time outs. You have to spare on hand (or two) and have time for RMA'ing drives.
Other Thoughts: Seagate sends you back a referb - Newegg will send you a new drive. The referb (green label marked referb) work well. I have not had a referb fail so I rather have a referb over a new drive (greated than 50% chance of it failing again). Anywhy - I will buy more once you get past the problems - they are good deal.READ FULL REVIEW
