Linksys EA6400 Smart Wi-Fi Router - Dual Band AC 1600 Video Enthusiast IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Easy to use, configure & setup.
Speeds are good on 2.5Ghz
I like how I can divide the download speed so I can stream a movie and download a large file without one interrupting the other.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: My WDLive TV media player doesnt support 5Ghz.

My Cisco DocSis2.0 cable modem drops my internet connection about once every 2-4 weeks. I can see how someone can think its their router dropping the connection but the majority of the time its your cable modem or your ISP.

I did not have to create a linksys account as one reviewer had said. You simply login to the router like any other 192.168.1.1

I think this router offers a lot for the money. I'm not using all of it's features and could have purchased a router with less features and have been equally as happy. But I purchased this with longevity in mind, I hope not to replace it again for another 5-8yrs. I call it future proofing. :)

Cisco DPC2100 4012460 DOCSIS 2.0 Cable Modem 100/10 Ethernet port, USB 1.1 port
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: less than 1 day

Pros: Inexpensive modem thats mine - no more rental fees to TWC!

TWC activated it 12/29/14 - Tier 1 had to call Tier 3 support.

Cons: DOCSIS 2.0 (potential IP issue in the future?)

TWC Tier 1 cannot seem to get it working.

Other Thoughts: So I called TWC got right through without a long wait. Got a guy out of New York, Tier 1 agent he said. He added the MAC address only after I mentioned to him that Newegg reviews said it was compatible with TWC. He added the MAC and could see the modem and could reset it. However I couldnt get online. After power cycling 3 times and 30min later he kepts saying it wasnt compatable and wanted to switch me back onto the rental. He then offered to call Tier 3 support to see if they could do anything and I said yes please that would be great. Within 2 minutes the modem flashed a few times and I was online! He came back on and said the Tier 3 guy had to do something different to get it to work but didnt tell the Tier 1 agent what he did. So, save yourselves a lot of time and after you power cycle and still struggle with a connection ask politely if they can contact Tier 3. :)
