This review is from: Fosmon USB to eSATA / SATA Adapter
Pros: Simple and works good.
Cons: These units do not supply power for the hard drive.
This wasn't a con in my case.
Other Thoughts: These Units MUST BE POWERED by a powered usb hub or USB power jumpered motherboard.
Used with an external backplane, 5v/12v molex to 120v power adapter, and powered usb hub (made sure that I could place multiple units in the hub.
Pros: Works on XP 64
Hardware works great.
Cons: Misleading on XP support
Website and installation disk lacked working
XP 32 drivers, returned widows error code 39.
(Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware)
Other Thoughts: Since most XP machines have the XP 32 bit OS,
this can cause headaches for Newegg Support Staff.
Areca needs to update the drivers or remove XP 32 compatability from Newegg's Description.
Pros: 8 bays
Power supply has the ends you need.
Many fan slots.
Cons: IMO Designed by an Engineer who never built a computer.
CASE IS TOO SHORT. Needs to be 6 inches longer. My DVD drive would overlap the mother board by 1 1/2" which means you can't use the bottom bays. Had to take the door off to extend the sata drive carriers out the front an inch.
Power supply has lots of cable attached making limited room tough to work with.
Other Thoughts: Nightmare! I will get it to work even if it "ain't pretty".READ FULL REVIEW
