This review is from: Yamaha RX-V477 5.1 Channel Network AV Receiver
Pros: Dynamic range control + Adaptive range control
Support for HDMI ARC, HDMI CEC
Cons: The sound scale goes from 0-97 with 0.5 steps, for a total of 194 volume steps. There is no way to adjust this. So for minor volume changes, you have to press the volume button 10-20 times. Unacceptable.
HDMI CEC allows my TV to change the AV input to AV4. I cannot assign the TV input to HDMI, only AV inputs. So every time I turn on the TV, I have to pick up my Yamaha remote and chose HDMI 1. This is a known issue with Yamaha receivers, see various Yamaha reviews and forum postings. Again unacceptable.
YPAO gives me a phase error warning but wont tell me which speaker is out of phase. I have to manually go through each speaker connection. Why?
*Got it on sale.
Cons: *Fan constantly rattles.
*And the fan is non standard 135mm. Replacement is tough to find if I want to self fix and I don't want to warranty the unit and end up receiving a refurbished unit.
*The CPU power cable is too short compared to other PSU's, I couldn't route it around the motherboard.
Other Thoughts: Bought this as a backup to my Corsair PSU, and will stick to Corsair in the future.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Runs very cool & quiet, I'm constantly checking if the fans are working.
Lots of video ram
Comes with nifty case badge
Cons: Appearance & design looks a bit dated.
Drivers on CD are old, which is to be expected.
Other Thoughts: Would definitely consider buying an EVGA graphics card again.READ FULL REVIEW
