ASUS Z97-A LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: Stable motherboard, that fit my cost-budget when building and upgrading. Performs perfectly fine without all the somewhat useless bells & whistles of the high end mobos. The bronze and silver aesthetics go a long way too, looks sleek in my case. Highly adjustable bios settings (as the norm today), and a good onboard sound.

Cons: Slight issue when screwing into my Haf XB evo case, not sure why but may be a defect in my own cases screw holes. The installation disk tries to install a bunch of useless applications apart from the drivers, but apart from that no.. nothing really negative can be said!

Other Thoughts: Loving this motherboard so far, Asus are well known for their quality work and you can definitely feel it for sure once everything is installed and drivers are downloaded. Running stable and easily a good motherboard, I was glad to purchase this for the price I paid. Love Asus products and stand behind them anytime!

Cooler Master Seidon 240M – All-In-One CPU Liquid Water Cooling System with 240mm Radiator and 2 Fans
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: +idles at 18-21°C
+under load at 40°C to 48°C (previously I was at 65°-70°)
+Very nice price (approx.$75 after rebate)
+a lot quiter than I had anticipated
+comes with tools needed to install, is straightforward

Cons: -Setup can be somewhat a pain
-Radiator is somewhat large and clunky (be sure case can fit)
-Best method is push/pull for this beast (so needing 2+ fans)
-The stock CM fans it comes with are slightly noisier than my Noctua fans.

Other Thoughts: I was originally planning to purchase the Kraken X60 ($120) but this was an ad special and the reviews I had read put it just behind the X60 by a small margin. Being $45.00 cheaper than the X60 and only losing a few degrees on the benchmark, I couldn't pass up this deal.

The Installation was fairly straightforward and although a manual isn't needed I have read about people placing fans the wrong direction.

Fans! The best configuration for this massive radiator build is a push-pull method (2fans on each side of the rad), sucking in air and pushing it out the opposite end. This isn't needed but is recommended for maximum cooling performance.

I unfortunately could not fit all 4x fans in my case to assist the Seidon 240m, as I have an Haf XB Evo modular case paired with a GTX 680 4gb Classic. When everything was fully installed the GPU was 7milometers short of fitting. As to not press my GPU against the fan I than preceded to take 1 of the 2 fans out blocking the PCI-E slots and than moved the fan to a open fan slot in my case (which now has 8-fans).

Coming from a Noctua NH-D14 cooler (one of the best air-coolers) I can say I am glad with this purchase, and would purchase another Cooler Master product anytime as they have proven once again why I use them in my builds.

Case: Cooler Master Haf XB Evo
GPU: Evga GTX680 Classified 4gb
Mobo: Asus z97-a
CPU: 4790k (4ghz)
Cooler: Cooler Master Seidon 240m
Ram: 8gb G.skill Ripjaws
HDD/SDD: WD Cav.Black 1TB / Samsung 840m

Cooler Master HAF X - High Air Flow Full Tower Computer Case with Windowed Side Panel and USB 3.0 Ports
  • Owned For: more than 1 year

Pros: Ok, so I've owned this case which has got to be pushing around 3-years, I have changed the fans to more enthusiast friendly after the 3rd year (original still worked fine and quietly) kept it clean from dust and built an AMD/Radeon build and am now running Intel/Nvidia. An amazingly durable machine I have moved it to Lan parties and carried it from City to city as I moved alot, it has stood the test of time and still comes back, although I am now looking to go mid-size/bench I will still hold onto this machine for future ideas. Oh, and fits dual gpu's and a big Noctua Dh-14 easily, cable management was easy to hide as well!
-Fits almost anything
-Very nice cooling system
-Many storage slots and easy to use
-looks awesome

Cons: -Heavy? C'mon toughen up!
-Large fans have a tendency to be noisy although I haven't had such issue myself.
-front usb panel gave me an issue, contacting CoolerMaster however resolved the issue, Great company.

Other Thoughts: Coolermaster have made an amazing tower, I'm glad I purchased it and its kept my setup running cool and strong for years! Oh and people compliment its size (^_~)
