MSI X99A SLI PLUS LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: supports case front usb 3.0 port
very cool point and click bios
m.2 sata port

Cons: low rez msi logo flash screen? (disabled it in bios no egg taken)

Other Thoughts: After 90 days of daily / casual use I have not had any problems with this board at all.

First power up took board around 30 seconds to boot while it registered all the new
components in bios and checked them for functionality after that 15 second boot time or
less......every time since.

I do not overclock cpu or ram so almost all bios settings are at default values after
hardware was installed. I power off this computer at night and power it on at least once
daily and it has never had any boot problems or any other issues as far as detecting the
amount of ram or detecting cpu speeds etc. Again, all bios settings are at default values,
I have not tried the OC genie features this board offers as stock cpu speeds are plenty
fast enough for me at this time.

I use the onboard optical output for sound and it sounds loud and clear like you would
expect it to. I have not experienced any pops or other distortion with it connected to
external receiver even with multiple apps running.

I have played some of the popular games on it including Battlefield 3 and 4, Dark Souls,
GTA V and Diablo 3 and all seem to run as good as my gtx 770 will allow. this new system
pushes gpu to the max i do plan on upgrading my gpu and monitor soon as well.

I also keep an eye on Windows event viewer logs for O/S system errors and warnings for a
heads up on a possible hardware problem developing and so far this board and the other
hardware connected to it has generated nothing out of the ordinary.

What can i say, over the last few months i tried to find a con for this board and i got
nothing so far ..... i hope it stays that way ..... GG MSI

6 month update: Everything is still running fine ...... i've had no boot problems and no problems with any other hardware ...... i purchased a 144hz monitor and it makes games ultra smooth now !!!!

CORSAIR Hydro Series H60 (CW-9060007-WW) High Performance Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm

Pros: keeps cpu nice and cool
extremely quiet

Cons: corsair logo doesn't light up

Other Thoughts: i haven't overclocked my cpu yet because i haven't needed to but for stock speeds this unit keeps cpu temps really low. my ambient temp in these cooler months stays around 65f and this unit has my idle temps like in the low 20c range with it hitting mid 50c range under full load.

i used the thermal compound that came with (on) the unit and it seems to be working well and made installation a bit easier and with the temps im seeing i think it would do well even if i decided to overclock some.

the hoses are thicker than h50 unit and feel more durable but i was still able to bend them without much effort to mount on board.

this thing is also extremely quiet ....... i mean is it even running?????? i have case up here next to me on desk and i can't hear the pump or the fans at all i just know i have ice cold temps. i like it !!!!

5 out of 5 eggs Corsair Quality 12/19/2015

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-03 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case

Pros: front usb 3.0 port , psu mounts on bottom

Cons: front panel can be tricky to remove to add additional fan (no egg taken)

Other Thoughts: i recently bought the spec1 and liked it so much i decided to get a spec 3 for different build . both are almost identical but for some reason i prefer the spec1 ...... both are excellent cases for the $$$
