MSI GeForce GTX 970 GTX 970 4GD5T OC 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support G-SYNC Support Video Card
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: No coil whine.
Triple the performance of my previous card (7870)
Don't have to SLI to play games in 1080p

Cons: I have had this card for 4 months now. No problems experienced until this month. Recently the Nvidia driver started crashing a lot, and sometimes games just crash to the desktop. I have done extensive temperature, power, and stress testing.

Other Thoughts: I want to love this card. But I am feeling like I should have chosen another brand. Maybe I just got unlucky. I'll try to work with MSI and see what happens.

MSI GeForce GTX 970 GTX 970 4GD5T OC 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support G-SYNC Support Video Card
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: It's fast. It's energy efficient. It's almost completely silent. It has about triple the performance of my old 7870. It has great OC tools. The price was pretty good. Zero coil whine.

Cons: It sags a little

Other Thoughts: This is a very long card. You need a large case. You need 2x6 ping power cables. It's not super power-hungry, so you don't 'need' a high wattage PSU with an intel system.

PowerColor Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition AX7870 2GBD5-2DHV2 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Price - $199
Performance - This card runs just as well as a much more expensive 7870 I use in another machine
Size - it's small enough that it's not crammed into the case (Mid Tower gaming case)
ports - it has every imaginable type of port, and supports 5 monitors at the same time.

Cons: It's not a 7970

Other Thoughts: This card is perfect for the casual to serious gamer. It does not require SLI/Crossfire headaches to get decent framerates on high settings in any game I've tried (Sims3, Dayz, Crysis games, etc.) The price is unbelievably good, even though I expect other cards of the same series to go down in price soon.

CAUTION - this card has 2x external power inputs, and I didn't read to find out if it absolutely needed both. But be aware that you will need a serious power supply. Make sure your power supply supports 2 graphics card connectors and has high amperage per rail on the rail you will be connecting to the card (more than 25 amps on at least that rail.)

Keep in mind that watts = amps* volts, and power supply wattage is additive, meaning each cable eats some of the wattage/amperage/voltage.
