DEEPCOOL Multi Core X6 Laptop Cooling Pad 15.6

  • neweggOwned For: less than 1 day

Pros: Quiet
Firm Design
Perfect Fit

Cons: Fan Speed Switch (Feels cheap)

Personal Con: I have one USB 2.0 slot on the left side of my laptop which holds my USB Receiver for my mouse. I have two USB 3.0 slots on the right side of my laptop, where I have it plugged in. I've used several cooling pads before, this is the first cooling pad I've used that doesn't have the cord built into the pad. Just a Personal Con.

Other Thoughts: Starting with opening the box, time and money was spent into the box itself, it had semi-soft styrofoam packing (Don't know the actual name for it) as well as wrapped in plastic. It comes with the Pad, the USB to USB connector, instructions (Yes, really) and two rubber pads. I purchased this pad primarily because of the fan placement. Instead of trying to locate a pad that had its fans near my intake/exhaust ports, why not buy one that just covers the entire bottom of the computer.

I have 4 options for the fans, Off, 2x100mm, 2x 140mm, Both. It's not super loud with all 4 fans running. The switch to select between those though seems flimsy to me. Like I could break it if I wasn't paying attention and slid it too hard.

It does have a USB Port on the pad, which does make up that it takes up a port on my laptop. My laptop (rubber feet) feels like it really holds onto the mesh top of the pad. Doesn't slide around ever if I try. All in all, a very excellent product.

Pros: Touchscreen/BackLit Keyboard are a +...

Cons: Keyboard isn't that responsive to light keystrokes, you have to kinda mash them to register a key being hit. It is terribly slow, I've been using an SSD for years, and I think going back to HDD is why I'm noticing this. But, this is horrible. 3 Minute Boot Times, Skype taking an additional 3-4 minutes to Sync. Harman/Kardon gets distorted easily, not at MAX Volume. Touchpad isn't very responsive. Nvidia Panel crashed several times while updating, along with several other programs.

Other Thoughts: I'm not going to bother to send it back, I'll live with it and make my upgrades as I see the need.

Windows 8.1 Pro - 64-bit

1 out of 5 eggs Complete Garbage 03/19/2014

This review is from: Windows 8.1 Pro - 64-bit

Pros: None, There is NOTHING that can be a PRO with this garbage Software.

Cons: No Customer Support, Not even a Level 2 Tech could figure out what the issue was. Problems left, right, and center.

Other Thoughts: I bought this product to show Microsoft there was no problem with my computer. I bought this with a 750GB WD Black Edition, My computer stated the only problem it had was Google Chrome, which was outdated, but other than that, it was 100% ready for a Windows 8.1 Pro upgrade!, I updated, and that was when I ran into that lovely steel wall. They said, plug everything I own into the laptop and test it. Everything worked, and had updated Drivers, which Microsoft also checked and proved they were Green. Going back and forth with technicians for over two weeks, they finally give me a Level 2 Technician, who ALSO couldn't find the problem, they said they fixed it every time and kept closing my support number. Even when it wasn't fixed. Microsoft has no customer support with Windows 8, it should say with it's mobile users. Stick with Windows 7 until they get rid of it like Windows XP.
