This review is from: ASUS RT-AC66R Dual-Band Wireless-AC1750 Gigabit Router –Asus Certified.
Pros: Very capable router out of the box - huge feature set without flashing custom firmware. Easy setup, ASUS borrowed a lot of code from Tomato and DD-WRT so the features should be fairly familiar if you have experience with those.
Easily flashable with 3rd party firmware such as Tomato, DD-WRT, and ASUSWRT-Merlin.
80Mhz 5GHz channels - these bond 4x 5GHz channels together for very high throughput. Using iperf, I was able to get 320Mbit/s bonding 149-161 at 3 yards, line-of-sight. Only got 190Mbit/s by only bonding 149+153 (40Mhz)
Great Gigabit Ethernet throughput as well - not up to enterprise switches but still able to push over 800Mbit/s over a wired connection (tested with iperf)
Cons: Single-core CPU sometimes chokes while multitasking - cannot do QoS for 50Mbit of download while also serving as an OpenVPN server. I guess get the AC68R if you need a beefier CPU.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: It is very effective at keeping a room humidified. The cool mist really feels good, and it is a fraction of the price of a lot of ultrasonic humidifiers. It also lasts all night and then some.
Cons: Construction is shoddy, but repairs are easy if you are willing to open it up and trace wires. Mine actually was dead on arrival, but after removing the screws, I figured out that some wires on the inside were loose and hot glued while disconnected, and also that one of the pins for the fan plug was not soldered properly. It took maybe 10 or 15 minutes of repair work to get this into working condition but it was definitely worth it not to have to send it back!
Other Thoughts: After repairing it, this thing works great! If yours is DOA you may want to consider repairing it yourself!READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: CM Storm Devastator - LED Gaming Keyboard and Mouse Combo Bundle (Blue Edition)
Pros: The keyboard is backlit well and looks pretty. The mouse also looks pretty with a backlit pattern on the palm rest area.
Cons: Mouse broke within 48 hours of receiving it. The wheel is mostly unresponsive to scrolling, but when it does respond it scrolls the wrong way on half the clicks. Good for making you dizzy from spastic scrolling, I guess.
Keyboard light is tied to the scroll lock button, so if you're typing in a linux console and you want the arrow keys to recall commands instead of scroll through your buffer while your backlight is on, you're out of luck.
Other Thoughts: Returning this cheap junk. Thank goodness for Shoprunner free return shipping. CM would do well to stop making these.READ FULL REVIEW
