This review is from: ION iCADE Atari Game Controller for iPad
Pros: It's not just for the iPad... if you have an HP TouchPad, the CyanogenMod Android installs will allow you to load up MAME4Droid, which has a built-in iCade setting. Works perfectly for tons of classic games. A TouchPad fits nicely in the iCade either vertically for, say, Pac-Man or Donkey Kong, or flipped on the "landscape" side for horizontal games like Joust or Moon Patrol.
The iCade itself is a well-constructed and appealing product that's simple to set up and use. Load up some games on your tablet, and it's a kid magnet.
Cons: Not crazy about the button layout, which can be a bit cramped, but for the overall size, it's understandable.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Hauppauge HD PVR High Definition Personal Video Recorder USB Port
Pros: I've been using an HD-PVR for HD video capture for several years. Video quality is outstanding at 720p or 1080i, and the box itself is bulletproof (I have the "C2" version; I understand the first release boxes tended to overheat, but I've never had that problem). A great way to archive video from any HD source with component outs.
Cons: The Windows software included with the box is pretty lousy, and Hauppauge's software support is limited. Box doesn't recognize DTS audio. No way to crop video (i.e. remove letterbox black areas) without additional software and re-encoding. Mac support (software) costs extra, from outside vendors.
Other Thoughts: Hauppauge doesn't offer Mac support out of the box; OS X users have to buy either ElGato's eyeTV or Steven Toth's HDPVRCapture software (Google for it). For my money, the much cheaper HDPVRCapture is preferred, with a straightforward interface and easy. no-reencoding export to .mp4 files that can be edited with MPEG Streamclip freeware and then played back via Quicktime + Perian. I don't use my HD-PVR for actual scheduled PVR recordings, just video capture, so I have no opinion on that performance. Works great with a C2D Intel Mac Mini for both recording and playback.READ FULL REVIEW
