This review is from: SAMSUNG D3 Station 4TB USB 3.0 3.5" Desktop External Hard Drive STSHX-D401TDB Black
Pros: It looks nice sitting on the desk
Cons: doesn't work
Other Thoughts: I've gotten 2 duds in a row. Long story short, they seemed to install ok (1st one was quirky, but eventually installed, 2nd installed fine right away) but then when I tried to copy files onto the drive, it would hang after several GB. I ran the included Samsung Drive Manager diagnostics - the complete option - and the ending message returned was that the drive was defective and I should have it replaced. 2 defective drives in a row makes me very wary plus RMA return shipping for 2 drives isn't cheap!READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: It looks nice in the case. It reads blu-ray and DVDs most of the time, though it tends to be slow.
Cons: Mine will only print lightscribe (LS) intermittently. I have an external LG drive that does LS and every time the Samsung says it can't recognize the disc or print the disc, I've put the disc directly into the LG and it's worked fine. The Samsung wouldn't do LS at all until I loaded the firmware upgrade.
The read speeds are rather slow. This is an internal SATA drive, yet my external USB LG drive reads and copies at a much faster rate.
Software thinks it burns DVDs ok, but when I try to look at the data I discover that the data wasn't burned correctly. Toward the center of the disc you can see gaps in the data. There are rings of non-burned space. The discs are non-readable by the Samsung and any other drive. This same software burns the same data just fine if I use the external LG or my internal SATA Pioneer blu-ray burner.
Other Thoughts: I missed the RMA date here. No luck getting help from Samsung support yet.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Just added it to my machine and it worked.
Other Thoughts: Upgraded from 4 GB to 8GB RAM. Working great thus far.READ FULL REVIEW
