Cons: This build was delayed four months due to Newegg/ASRock issues. Mine were similar to Sanjay S. in that 1) my "new" motherboard arrived as an open box item; 2) some of the CPU socket pins were bent out of the box; and 3) box was beat up like it had been through several owners; and 4) Newegg sent me the wrong motherboard -- chipset number was off by one character. Further, I spent nearly eight hours on the phone to Newegg customer service during this period and felt like I was being treated like a criminal. Some of the customer service rep's questions were purposely leading. One rep's were obvious snares trying to catch me in a lie or inconsistency. I must have answered the same/reworded questions a dozen times, these calls lasting up to two hours each and being passed along up the chain to two-to-four different phone reps. Nightmare.
The RMA's went back and forth with Newegg automatically returning the original board the first time without referring to my emails or customer service rep's phone conversations. Zero coordination among reps or between departments (customer service/shipping).
Up to this point in August 2014, I'd received nothing but the best and most responsive customer service from Newegg. They were my gold standard. However, ASRock motherboards and Newegg from this point forward? Ain't gonna happen.
Other Thoughts: No ASRock motherboards from Newegg. No more motherboards from Newegg period. I have limited time to devote to my builds, so my vendors need to get things right the first time with cluster situations like my ASRock experience occurring only occasionally -- and being fixed on the first phone call, the first RMA.READ FULL REVIEW
Cons: SATA connector broke the first time I disconnected it. Been putting builds together well before the advent of SATA drives, and this broken connector is a first for me. Unfortunately, my Newegg return window had closed. I returned the drive to WD; they sent it back to me. I contacted WD customer service via phone and email and got nothing but empty promises and a marathon run-around for over three months. I'm out $300 plus tax (price at the time) and won't be buying anything WD in the foreseeable future.
Other Thoughts: Be super careful when connecting & disconnecting this drive.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: NUANCE PDF Converter 8.0
Pros: Love the software from V. 6.0 forward even tho' it's a bit cumbersome. I'm a WordPerfect holdout, and WP's Reveal Codes function fits hand-in-glove with PDF Converter. Also, I have to revise my classroom materials annually -- up to 100 pages -- and PDF Converter saves me so much time and pain. Don't know how well it works with MS Word or other word processing programs.
Cons: Fraudulent rebate offers through Helgeson
Did two rebates recently, PDF Converter and another software program. Filled out all the forms, included all required materials, and was refused on both for bogus "date" claims. The Nuance rejection letter said, "The purchase date on the sales receipt does not fall within the program dates." The outside date for this rebate was March 25th, as was the date on my Newegg invoice.
The other software's rejection letter stated: "Purchase date on the sales receipt is missing." My original receipt and its photocopies clearly demonstrated otherwise.
What these two purchases have in common is the company that handles the rebates:
Helgeson Enterprises Headquarters
4461 White Bear Parkway
White Bear Lake, MN 55110
(866) 762-9700 or (651) 762-9700
I emailed Helgeson from their website; haven't heard anything from them. I emailed Nuance with copies of everything previously submitted, and Nuance's customer service recently contacted me with the news that my Nuance rebate will be honored...roughly four months after the purchase date and untold time and frustration getting this company to hold up their end of the deal.
I still haven't heard from the other software vendor.
Deal is, if we let companies get away with cheating us individually, they'll continue to keep doing what they're doing to us as groups of consumers. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and the State Attorneys General Offices in California and Minnesota to register my complaints against Helgeson.
Other Thoughts: Despite the time and aggravation, always follow through to get what's advertised, to get what's rightfully yours.READ FULL REVIEW
