100% totally painless brand - built like a tank, A++ performance
Pros: I run a small to medium sized IT service company based upon a "hardware as a service" model where for a fixed monthly cost per seat we handle all the hardware needs as well as software and technical support. Pretty much the only two OEMs I actually trust are SeaSonic as well as Super Flower (who also makes an excellent product) Normally for my own person systems I buy the fanless SeaSonic, but with their new Fanless mode I get to save a few dollars and have some extra headroom if I ever go nuts and really load a system down. When you are putting a system together there is always the temptation to skimp a bit on the power supply and try to stretch to the next CPU or GPU up the food chain..... Don't do it. Pretty much every informed technical writing in existance says the current SeaSonic platform is the best out there in terms of design and a 10 year warranty and an outstanding reputation tells you what you need to know. Every brand has the odd DOA, and both Newegg and Seasonic are top flight dealing with these issues, but for the vast, vast, vast majority of buyers this is literally "set it and forget it" SeaSonics do their job efficiently, (near) silently, and they do it for a very, very long time. If you need a power supply, don't overthink this.. just by a SeaSonic in your price/power range and you will be happy..
Cons: There will always be a few quibbles - yes, the cables are a tad stiff, so for 10 minutes of the 10 years you will be living with this thing it's a bit of a pain... so what? No flashing lights, LEDS or other things that have zero to do with actual performance.
Overall Review: Best platform currently out there. Outstanding reputation and warranty. Are you buying this thing to look pretty, or do its job for the next decade?
mSATA is only SATAII
Pros: Actually, a pretty decent board - runs surprisingly cool (at least with an i3) - Because I used a mSATA hard drive other than the fans there were no moving parts, and almost no internal cabling.
Cons: Loses two eggs for the following reasons: mSATA is SATAII = What? This small a system begs for mSATA, and yes, the h81 chipset only has 2 SATAIII ports... why not use one for the mSATA? The included software utilities are rough and balky - not quite ready for prime time. That being said, its an intel chipset - how badly can you really foul that up?
Great Value, decent thermals, tragically noisy cooler
Pros: 6 Performance Cores + 8 efficiency cores. In most benchmarks this chip will run marginally ahead of an I5-12600K with waaaaaaaaaaay beter thermals. If you take all the brakes off, this chip pulls about 140 watts, versus about 200 watts for a maxed out i5-12600K.
Cons: The stocker cooler is (barely) enough, but it rams up and down in speed and has a frequency distribution that is deeply annoying. The fan is so bad you should just throw it away and buy a cheep "whatever" to replace it.
Overall Review: Great chip, amazing value, tragically bad cooler.
Excellent Cooling, easy to build
Pros: Had a 6 core Rocketlake that was running hot in a really small ITX case, so I needed to do a case swap, this worked out nicely - the big 180 mm front fan moves a lot of air AND I could still mount the 120 mm AIO liquid cooler behind it, so a push.pull fan set up with the bonus of lots of extra fan pushing air into the case. Tons of room for an ITX case, so no fighting to get all the bits in. I bought the white version, it looks nice All your standard sized parts work just fine, need to get a short (ish) video card if you are using one NO cable "management" per se, but lots of space to route cables.
Cons: A USB C port on the front would be nice. Not a lot of tower air coolers actually fit. The vent for the power supply is sized for a 120 mm, so it is restrictive if your power supply uses a large fan.
Overall Review: Good value for money, I am happy with my purchase.
Trash. worked (kinda) for ten minutes then dead ad a dodo
Pros: The title says it all
Cons: The title says it sll
Overall Review: cant say anything other than dead after 10 minutes
Does exactly what you think it will - lets you run a NVMe SSD in an old motherboards that do not natively support, or support at a lower speed.
Pros: Easy to use, comes with a mini screwdriver, extra screws and heat transfer pads - a complete kit. I am using a PCI 4 SSD, but the unit benches almost exactly at the max of the PCi 3.0 x 4 interface - about 3.2 gbs both ways - HUGE upgrade for a Skylake based system!
Cons: I wish it was free, they charge money for it.. but to be fair the price is very reasonable!
Overall Review: Great product, if you have an open PCI slot, it's a no brainer upgrade for an older system.
FAKE PRUDUCT!
It did not work..I returned it to Crucial/Micron - They say the product is fake. Counterfeit product that does not work = One Egg!
