Is OK
Pros: Small, 2 size USB interface
Cons: Design for cover a bit awkward. Sticks out when you used the micro end and has a tendency to slide out of place. Would be better w/o the cover at all.
So far, so dud
Pros: It arrived.
Cons: Not as impressed with the physical appearance as I hopped. The touch pad all kind of gives, even though it should only give in the l/r click areas, but since it's a single piece, it all moves a bit disconcertingly. But I was satisfied for the price. Biggest issue, though, it won't start up anymore. When I started it for the first time, it was a bit slow, no surprise, lots of things "setting up". But the wireless kept forgetting that it was on, couldn't even register with Asus because it couldn't find the connection. After refreshing the wireless a few times I got to Windows update and crossed my fingers that updates would help. 87 updates later, it asks to restart. Restart goes OK, but still have issues with wireless. So, one more try for restart (second time since I got it) and now Windows cannot load. The restore functions in W8 cannot find a restore point, cannot do a refresh or reset. So, now it's a brick. Not sure if it's a hardware, software, driver issue (or combination there of). Will give Asus a few days to help me fix it before I kindly ask newegg to take this back. Will probably update then...
Wireless iffy
Pros: Duplex printing, fast and quiet
Cons: Wireless feature is iffy. I am not sure what the problem is, but it will work fine right after you set it up, but it's impossible to reconnect to the printer after power has been cycled on the printer or computer (not quite sure who's forgetting their settings).
Good case, will buy another
Pros: Place for 120mm front fan, air filter material in front of case, well placed USB and audio ports on front of case.
Cons: No filter material on side air vents.
Overall Review: I used some thin wire and placed some filter material on the side air vents. It wasn't easy, but wasn't too hard either. It's caught a lot of dust that would otherwise have blown right on to the MB and CPU. I plan on buying another for a new build soon.
Good for the price, quiet, HOT
Pros: Very inexpensive, esp. with the MIR. Quiet. These were my primary reasons for this choice. Seems to run well, with exception below...
Cons: HOT. Under normal operating conditions (windows, no programs running), the core is above 60C. I found that the heatsink is plastic! It had already discolored from getting too hot. I have experienced a number of lockups that I am pretty sure are from the card overheating. I've been playing 2004 and older games, so they arent terribly demanding on the VC.
Overall Review: Very good card as long as you arent going to play ANY games. If you're gaming at all, you should consider an upgrade (who knows, maybe the version with the passive HS is better, I would assume it's a metal HS...). 4 eggs because you get what you pay for!
