5 out of 5 eggs Perfect for MPD Build 01/12/2015

This review is from: SolidRun Video Device CuBox-i4 Pro. V2 1.2GHz Quad Core Android Media Player

Pros: I use this currently for an mpd build using Voyage Linux Mubox. It works well on Volumio, Archphile, and as an NAA on HQPlayer. I just chose Mubox for bit-perfect and real time kernel. It uses very low power, it's tiny, does not have a shared USB and Ethernet data path unlike Raspberry Pi, and runs cool under normal load, <10% load even on 192Khz flac and DSD. Lastly, it sounds very clean, open, with large soundstage particularly with a linear power supply.

Cons: Everybody complain about the microSD card slot. It's not as big deal as I thought. A small paperclip can easily take it off although, admittedly, it would have been better if has the eject-type socket.

For use with mpd, I wish it didn't have the optical out, hdmi out since I am running it headless, no bluetooth, no wi-fi, and no eSata! Well, this applies more to what my need is for this unit. I can always turn them off in software.

Other Thoughts: The 2 USB outputs are shared. If you are using one USB to attach to a DAC, make sure there isn't anything attached to the other one. I didn't hear any difference in my set-up (Lavry DA11 DAC, Adam A7X active monitors, and Sennheiser HD800 phones) while using both USB outs but it's better to leave the other free of any connections.

4 out of 5 eggs Made in China 05/24/2012

This review is from: Ginsu 04817 14PC Knives Set

Pros: Got these on sale for $22.99.

Cons: Looks cheap. Several scratches on the Ginsu logo. Material seems thin and light.

Other Thoughts: Looks cheap because they are cheap. Took 1 egg out because of poor quality control. Can't complain though about their sharpness.

Pros: No issues from first boot! These are fast memories. No fancy heat sinks. Just pure workhorses.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Matched these with ASUS Maximus V Gene and Intel 3770K. Works wonderful.
