Pros: Great price point for the amount of storage without having to do a rebate. HD Tune pro indicated it met advertised read speed.
Cons: DLH+USPS = -1 egg
Other Thoughts: HD Tunepro indicated it met the 450 MBS read speed. Made sure to get the latest Intel Rapid storage driver for my laptop. Laptop boot speed awesome now WIndows 7. Did not test the write speed.
The con is this was the first time that I got an order shipped from Newegg via DLH. Normally with UPS/fed ex I would be amazed at deliver speed, often only a day or two. Well, DLH kept the order the day or two, transferred it to a facility only marginally closer to may house than the original ship point THEN tendered it to USPS who took an additional 3-4 days to get it the 45 miles left to my house. Hope this isn't the new normal. -1 Egg for that, which is not fair to the Product which was a good buy.
This review is from: Polk Audio RM510 5.1 CH High Performance Home Theater Speaker System
Pros: Great sound value for the dollar
Other Thoughts: Bought these on a special with the subwoofer for under $200. Very solid feeling and heavy for the size, that always seems to make a difference in small speakers. Great sound value. Paired it with a Yamaha Aventage A-820 to run a dual zone stereo rig, WIth the parametric EQ ability in the receiver, got really good sound that plays much bigger than what they are, and was able to basically hide the whole system from view. great alternative to paying a zillion dollars for bose. I see these are now listed as discontinued, so fell happy to have got them before they were gone. Hope for future sake newegg gets some other polk mid end 5.1 system.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: YAMAHA AVENTAGE RX-A820 7.2-Channel Receiver
Pros: 2 Zone, Parametric EQ, Network abilitys
Cons: No Spotify app yet
Other Thoughts: Had been in the market as a loyal newegg customer for a dual zone airplay capable receiver for listening to music. Had priced out sonos, but multizone gets pricey quick with that. Already have a Yamaha v373 receiver and polk rm6750 5.1 speakers and thought they were a nice bang for the buck system for my tv room, which was not a real big room. Wanted a 2 zone stereo essentially for the main floor in my house to listen to music and also drive my patio and garage speakers. Shell shocker puts this thing out for under 500$ and it actually took me a couple hours to finally put it in my cart, cant imagine now why I was thinking about it so long. Delivery was quick as always. I paired it up with polk RM510 5.1 system for under $200 which has a bigger sub than the 6750 I have. So now I am using this as a 2 zone music player that was much cheaper than what I could have done with sonos. Put the stereo hidden from view in the garage closet, put 3 speakers above cabinets in my kitchen, put the other 2 above the hutch in my dining room, put the sub in my hall closet between the 2 rooms and cranked it up a notch to turn the whole closet into a nice subwoofer. I use the 7 channel stereo mode for the speakers since that's all I am using this rig for. Sound is SO GOOD all over the first floor of my house for the money spent, and its all hidden from view. I drive it all with the Yamaha app on my cell phone, never have to touch the avr anymore. I use Pandora one mostly, but it is hooked into my network and I also play music off my pc server and also have a cd changer on it if I am ever energetic anymore to reach for a cd. I use the 2 zones so I can listen to different music than my wife when I want. Hooked up my 2 garage speakers and 2 patio speakers to zone b and good to go. Parametric EQ on manual mode was fun to play with and brought the very best out of those reasonably priced little polks. Very happy with my hidden from sight ingenuity and shopping skills. Only cons I could think of is it doesn't have a spotify app yet, so I have been using Pandora one, which sounds very good. Wish someone made a 2 zone network player like this that didn't have all the video inputs or even an fm radio receiver, since I am pretty much not even using them, but hey, price was right. Well done Newegg on the shell shocker deal. I'll be back soon for a couple more outdoor speakers (polk of course, I am sold on polk and yamaha value).READ FULL REVIEW
