Pros: Great hardware for the price including the dedicated ATI GPU (and on-board Intel GPU for power saving when needed), i7 processor, 8 gigs of RAM, huge HDD and Beats Audio updgrade.
Keyboard feel solid, not rock solid, but solid. Mouse pad is standard feel and function but illumination is nice for finding it in darkened rooms.
Cons: Powers up when plugged in but says that battery is not charging. As stated in other reviews, the adapter that was sent may be the problem. I didn't get the 65 watt adapter that others have complained about, nor did I get the larger 120 watt version. The one I got was 95 watts but the battery still isn't charging as of this writing. Will likely RMA the power adapter to get the 120 watt version and see if that helps. All else is fine.
Other Thoughts: Don't fear the refurb. The basic difference is that your warranty is 90 days instead of a year. IME most hardware issues are detected within the first 90 days of ownership anyway. Saving nearly $400 off the retail price was enough to induce me to take the tradeoff.
Another refurb thought is that this machine has now been through HP QC twice. It's unlikely to have issues, even moreso that the new version in this respect. Newegg is nails for customer support. If I'm going to buy something refurb, I do it through them.
This review is from: Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Mobile Scanner (PA03603-B005)
Pros: Feeds well with minimal jamming. Reasonably fast. Solid build. Small footprint. Good value.
Cons: No TWAIN. This is a big deal depending on the requirements of the applications into which you will be scanning documents. It can be a deal breaker but wasn't for me. Know your apps. You have been warned.
Other Thoughts: Bought this for my office which is going paperless. After good success with the first, I'm back for another. One of my part-time employees (a moonlighting mortgage broker who scans documents incessantly) says she prefers it to the $1000 model at her brokerage office for reliability, ease of use and deskspace occupied. I'm not sure there is anyone who deals with more documents than a mortgage broker, except maybe a title company employee. I'd take her word for it. This is a good machine.READ FULL REVIEW
