Great...for the price

Nippon Labs ESATA-2M-BK 6.56 ft. ESATA Male to ESATA Male 6.56ft Cable – Black Color M-M 6.56 feet
Nippon Labs ESATA-2M-BK 6.56 ft. ESATA Male to ESATA Male 6.56ft Cable – Black Color M-M 6.56 feet

Pros: Great price Good length

Cons: Very stiff, will not easily bend or flex. It can easily drag a small drive off your desk if you aren't careful.

Overall Review: I'm using this to connect internal drives to my laptop eSATA port for data recovery. I picked up a eSATA-SATA PCI bracket and made an adapter. This cable has a very nice length, but it's so inflexable that it occationally tries to curl up and drags things around on my desk. It may work fine for an enclosure or large, heavy external drive. Just be careful how you place things that it can't be dragged off onto the floor.

Version 3 took away features...

TRENDnet 8-Port Unmanaged Gigabit GREENnet Desktop Metal Switch, Fanless, 16Gbps Switching Capacity, Plug & Play, Network Ethernet Switch, Lifetime Protection, Black, TEG-S80G
TRENDnet 8-Port Unmanaged Gigabit GREENnet Desktop Metal Switch, Fanless, 16Gbps Switching Capacity, Plug & Play, Network Ethernet Switch, Lifetime Protection, Black, TEG-S80G

Pros: Cheap 8 Gigabit ports Smaller form factor Smaller wall-wart

Cons: Took away tabs for shielded cables Took away "link speed" diagnostic lights

Overall Review: I got several of these a few years ago, needed a couple more (to replace one older unit and expand my network more). The model number is the same but they have newer "versions" now. The product information page is no longer accurate reflecting the features that were taken away. The current version lacks the second row of LEDs for link speed diagnostic and also lacks the shielding tabs around the network ports.

Simple - as it should be.

StarTech 6" 4 Pin Molex to SATA Power Cable Adapter SATAPOWADAP

Pros: Simple

Cons: none

Overall Review: What more is there to say? Got 3 of them...it's an adapter, it's simple and works.

Lots of ports in little space...

StarTech.com PEXUSB3S4V 4 Port PCI Express PCIe SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Controller Card Adapter with UASP - SATA Power - USB 3 PCIe Card
StarTech.com PEXUSB3S4V 4 Port PCI Express PCIe SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Controller Card Adapter with UASP - SATA Power - USB 3 PCIe Card

Pros: 4 ports Fits 2U rack mount case (low profile) as well as full desktop tower Includes both low-profile and full-size PCI slot brackets

Cons: Narrow PCI slots (too close together or too much metal between slots) may require trimming the case slightly

Overall Review: Seems to work very well, it gives 4 USB 3.0 ports in a very small form factor at a price comparable to some 2-port cards. As another review said, if your PCI slots are too close together or have metal between them it MAY require slight filing or modification to the case. I was able to make it fit by loosening the screws slightly on this and the PCI cards on either side, then carefully and gently adjusting the USB ports by less than 1/16 inch until they lined up with the PCI slot cutout in my case. Once I plugged in 4 USB cables I re-tightened the PCI slot screws to securely keep everything in the correct position.

Nice little case

Habey EMC-600BL Black Heavy duty 3mm aluminum Server Case 60W
Habey EMC-600BL Black Heavy duty 3mm aluminum Server Case 60W

Pros: Ultra small Strong

Cons: Challenge for fitting drives & cables

Overall Review: I put a GA-C1007UN-D motherboard in this and it was a very snug fit to make a SATA cable and CompactFlash to SATA SSD fit in as well but it works. It's doable without any fans added but I eventually added a pair of 10x40mm fans where the PCI slot is and it helps keep things significantly cooler with almost zero increase in noise. One note the power plug goes out the side (why?) so I suggest drilling a hole in the backplate and moving it - the connector is held on with a nut so it's trivial to change.

Coboc HS-3 3 ft. HDMI High Speed with Ethernet - Type A to Type A
Coboc HS-3 3 ft. HDMI High Speed with Ethernet - Type A to Type A

Pros: Short length, flexible, simple

Cons: None

Overall Review: Used a few of these to go between my HDMI switch, Wii, computer and BluRay Player to my surround system. Good length keeps cables nice and neat without balled up feet of wire - now I need to find a few spare 1.5 and 3 foot cables for future devices.
