Gorgeous LOOKING mouse

RAZER Ouroboros Gaming Mouse
RAZER Ouroboros Gaming Mouse

Pros: First of all, the looks. This mouse is stunning. Looking gorgeous from any angle. Everyone who had seen this mouse on my desk, had accused me of robbing Batman of his crime fighting accessories. Honestly, there is no other mouse quite like it from any other company. Secondarily, the responsiveness of the mouse in wireless mode is the second to none. I mean, it is surprising just how accurate this thing is in comparison the Logitech MX I'm coming from. Razer's Ouroboros feels snappy, fluid, and very precise. Never jerky or sluggish. For the lack of a better word: Perfect.

Cons: Here are a couple of "subjective" cons that may or may not affect others, but, I believe, should be considered before making purchasing decisions. First, while I am right handed and am not prone to loving the ambidextrous form factors, I had no problem with them from Razer as I also own the Taipan and simply love that thing. However, Ouroboros is shaped in such a way that made my hand hurt bad after a period of use. The problem is that both left and right buttons are angled to be their lowest at the center where the mouse wheel is located. This is very uncomfortable and non-ergonomic. After playing for about half hour, my right click finger had developed a twitch which started messing with my game. This leads into the second annoyance. The right mouse button had no resistance whatsoever. Because of that, I could never rest my hand on the mouse as my finger would always inadvertently r-click. This along with the r-mouse button arching the wrong way, insured me r-clicking a lot. I couldn't stop. The more tired my hand became the more I was r-clicking. Eventually, frustrated, I had to give up on it.

Overall Review: In the end, to me, this mouse is reminiscent of a Lamborghini. Beautiful, gorgeous, fast and furious :) makes everyone feel jealous, but it is not very practical nor very comfortable to drive in and after prolonged periods on the road leaves your bum feeling numb :). Again, please understand that the Cons were subjective, and for most people the Pros would outweigh the Cons. With all that said, performance wise I cannot dock it any eggs. So only one egg for comfort.

An extremely comfortable mouse

RAZER DeathAdder Chroma USB Gaming Mouse
RAZER DeathAdder Chroma USB Gaming Mouse

Pros: I was a proud owner of the Razer Taipan and unfortunately, that had stopped working after a couple of years of extreme use. To replace it I decided to try the Ouroboros, which was fantastic, but did not agree with me ergonomically. Then I went on a quest to find that perfect (right handed) mouse to suit me. I tried many including Logitech’s G502, Roccat’s Cone Pure optical, SteelSeries Rival (which my hands absolutely hated). Finally coming back to Razer, I had decided to try DeathAdder Chroma. The Pros: Beginning with the braided cable: Wow, I know braided cables. I had Taipan where the cord was so rigid that it took weeks before it relaxed a bit. DeathAdders cord is a little thicker, but oh so much more elastic which gives it a very premium feel to it. Next moving to the type of plastic the mouse is made from. It was a lot like that of the Taipan but more grainy, thus less slippery. All those complaining about cheap feeling plastic on Razer mice have no idea what they are talking about. It alleviates palm sweating and is very fingerprint resistant. Not cheap. The more important Pros: Moving on to the ergonomics of the mouse. To me, this takes precedence over the functionality of the mouse, its dpi setting, or the amount of buttons it has. I have small to medium hands and not a lot of mice fit me. Taipan was my mouse primarily because I could hold it comfortably and from the list above you may notice that I had tried other mice of great build quality and function, but ultimately rejected due to my needs. DeathAdder is bigger than Taipan which had me worried, until I put my hand on it. It was awesome. My hands felt weird because it was so comfortable. I had to get used to the feeling that I had nothing to adjust. Fantastic! Another must for me is the precision of the sensor. I prefer optical because, to me, it really does feel more accurate then the laser when it comes to certain games. The sensor on the DA is fantastic. It is on par with Ouroboros (laser). Never skips, no artificial acceleration, no jumping or jittering. It is spot on. And finally, the lift distance of the mouse before it stops tracking. This has been a problem for optical sensors in the past. And I am happy to say that it is not a problem with this one. I can adjust it to such a degree that lifting it a couple of mm will stop it from responding. Wow!

Cons: I have a few issues with this mouse though. They are not critical but could be for some people. The mouse wheel does make a noise when scrolling up. I didn't notice it at first, but when I tested that, yes, it does indeed make a clickky noise while scrolling up specifically. It was silent on the way down. And, when pressing the scroll wheel from the left or right it moved ever so slightly (no, that’s not a feature). This didn't feel so rickety like it was going to fall apart, but did indicate that less care was dedicated to quality control when it was put together. Razer does need to address this as it will only improve their reputation.

Overall Review: That’s that. Some may find the lack of dpi switches on the mouse a con, I do not. I set the dpi to what is more comfortable for me and leave it alone. So if you need that dpi switch button, this mouse is not for you. If you are looking for an extremely comfortable, elegant and precise mouse, DeathAdder is an excellent choice! Oh, and it can do pretty colors…if that’s something your into :).
