PNY XLR8 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model MD8192SD3-1600-X9
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: The price was good. It worked well while it did. It looks good as well, I like the minimalistic black heatsink.

Cons: The modules default to 1333Mhz on my Asrock z77 Extreme 6. Manually or XMP settings corrects this though. Another pair from another manufacturer defaults to the rated 1600Mhz.

Other Thoughts: I bought 2 of these in November 2013 and one module has failed in April 2014. Windows 8.1 began crashing with page fault errors and the module begins outputting errors at Test #2 using Memtest. The other module seems fine. I have submitted an RMA request to PNY so I'll see what comes of it.

Pros: Looks good. Works

Cons: Defaults to 1333Mhz. SPD info also shows 1333Mhz even when set to 1600Mhz in BIOS.

ASUS A88XM-A FM2+ / FM2 AMD A88X (Bolton D4) HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: Looks Good

Cons: Currently not working

Other Thoughts: I bought this along with a Corsair CX430, Mushkin 2133 Ram and a A10-7850K. APU arrived today. Unfortunately it seems that the current BIOS does not support the APU as it does not POST. I don't have another compatible processor to update the BIOS so I'm stuck. I've tried putting the 1003 BIOS on a FAT formatted USB in .ZIP and .CAP format and booting but still no luck. Guess I'll have to return this board.
