Pros: Looks nice when not in use.
Cons: This was purchased for an employee. It's one of the glossiest screens I've seen, and is effectively a mirror even when in use. The employee rejected the monitor after one day citing eye strain and headaches.
Other Thoughts: Really, don't buy this monitor. Even if you live in a basement, there will be too much of a reflection for it to be usable.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Synology DS1813+ Network Storage
Pros: Quiet enclosure
Cons: A research lab in the university I work for bought two of these units, one to be used as a primary NAS and the second as a backup destination. We have been working with Synology support for several months now trying to get the Time Backup feature working. It simply does not work, and their developers in Taiwan are unable to determine why.
Other Thoughts: I would not recommend Synology NAS units for any data that is important or where the data is expected to be reliable.
One of my consulting customers also has a Synology NAS, and just moments ago the primary volume crashed (prompting this review), interrupting work I was going to do this weekend. Thankfully the unit was only used as a backup destination.
Pros: Large capacity, low cost, high performance
Cons: Low reliability. Produced chirping noise after several hours of use. Chirping noise became a consistent whine. Drive dismounted and then would not mount again, conveniently after moving all of my data onto it.
Other Thoughts: Returning for another brand.READ FULL REVIEW
