This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_BL Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler
Pros: Pretty blue color to match my ASUS board. Push/pull configuration with two fans included. Mounts now allow you to vent out the back on AMD AM3+ socket. Drastically reduced operating temperatures, better than expected!
Cons: Blocks the first slot on my RAM bank on ASUS M5A-99FX PRO Rev 2.0 board (not an issue for me as I only have one set of RAM). You might fit some lower profile ram in under this, for sure not something like the Corsair Vengeance kit I have.
Other Thoughts: Out of the box, the FX-8350 and stock HSF was pushing 71C CPU during heavy loads, at which point the fan would start screaming trying to pull core temps down. The core temps according to AMD's (flawed) thermistors were approaching 68C! That is some HELLISH heat. After installing this (the most difficult part was securing the unit to the brackets, gotta use some muscle!) I am happy to report the following differences:
STOCK HSF: 42C idle/71C MAX ON GAMING LOADS (at which point I think the CPU throttles itself to avoid killing itself)
THIS HSF: 36-37C idle/56C MAX ON GAMING LOADS! (core temps also only got up to 50C, again according to AMD's flawed thermistors)
TOTALLY worth the price of admission here folks! This was tested with Far Cry 3, same configuration just different heatsinks. In no way is this meant to be an accurate test but the results speak for themselves!
Pros: Plays most games in high to ultra settings, reference cooler (blows hot air out of the back of the chassis), sleek and sexy EVGA simple look, comes with a free aluminum case badge!
Cons: Isn't a brand new GTX 980 or 970, and sitting at this price point still makes me wonder why these aren't discounted even more?
Other Thoughts: I bought this knowing that it was an entry level high end graphics card. The expectation was after much research and comparison. It has served me well for over 18 months now. Highly recommend EVGA PrecisionX software if you want to tweak things like fan curves and I believe it has some overclocking capability built into the software (never found a reason to overclock this card, it comes from the factory overclocked) but it's nice to adjust the fan curves. Also what really sold me on this card is the reference cooler with the blower style over the heatsink pulling air from the inside and pushing it out the back. I dislike the style of just slapping some fans on it. Overall a good buy I just wonder why these are still selling for that much, probably because it is a decent card!READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Logitech F310 (940-000110) Gamepad
Pros: Built in support for X-Box controller only games and DirectX means a plug-n-play experience on every game I have tried it on, buttons color coded to match the X-Box button colors
Cons: None so far!
Other Thoughts: Apparently some folks have been having issues with shoddy construction of this controller, to which I say, you get what you pay for. I don't expect this to last as long as a controller double or more in cost. If I get a year or two out of it, that was a good buy. I bought this item knowing it was a low end Logitech product and my expectations are therefore low on durability and long term viability. If you are into heavy gaming with a controller I recommend some other product. For occasional controller gaming this is a good choice!READ FULL REVIEW
