Excellent quality product
Pros: Excellent range, excellent throughput, so far completely stable with no reboots since it was set up almost 2 months ago. Has guest internet which is a plus for almost anyone who locks their network down. Security is excellent with no waiting for authentication like some of the lesser quality routers. Also you are given the option to throttle guest access which is awesome if you have clients coming and going that feel the need to stream video to their laptops while they are waiting and clogging up your internet connection. This allows you to throttle back their internet connection to a point where they can still do basic communications such as email, web browsing, downloading files etc. I just ordered another one for my own home.
Cons: Maybe a little on the spendy side but it is probably one of the better routers on the market. And you do generally get what you pay for. The included set up software may not work in every situation such as a complex network with smart switches, VLANS, or multiple subnets, however if you are deploying into such an environment you would either be choosing a more robust solution or would have the knowledge to configure it manually out of the box anyway.
Overall Review: Installed in a busy office almost 60 days ago with no reboots since. Just seems to purr away sitting up there on its perch :-) All workstations hooked via a switch into this router are running a heavy hyper desktop connection all day every day. Laptops and smart phones come and go etc etc. not a single hiccup just powers through it. I am by no means a network engineer but I do have a strong working knowledge of everything from simple bridges to corporate firewalls, and servers. This is a very above average product for home or SOHO deployment. You should consider some of the negative feedback left with persons who consider themselves to have "high" knowledge of the product. I have no doubt, some of those comments are due simply to the users inability to properly configure and operate this product or the product being used in a manner or placed in a location that prohibits proper operation. just my 2 cents. Properly configured and used with compatible equipment this is a drea
DOA
Pros: Looks like a sweet board packed full of features very price competitive (which is why i purchased it)
Cons: What can I say unit arrived DOA. Also keep in mind this unit requires a 8 pin CPU connector keep this in mind if yours only has a 4 pin (although the manual says a 4 pin will work I doubt you can push enough power through it if you plan on maximizing the boards potential)
Overall Review: This was my first DFI product I have always used A**s products in the past. Needless to say I am now a little soured back to a**s I go.
nice cover
Pros: One of the only protective cases that will fit the Q702 Fits nicely, protects well. built in stylus holder. has a had grip on the back to put your hand under.
Cons: Difficult to turn on and off without using a pen or other object. I have very large hands. Had to trim a bit looked like a manufacturing flaw that shouldn't have been there, not a big deal but not a 5 star either
Overall Review: I love mine
wouldnt recommend to an enemy
Pros: Has very flashy advertising........Didnt have to wait very long for tech support only 24 hours............grrrrrr
Cons: Tech support is very willing but the person I spent 3 hours on the phone with knows less than I do about networking. Tired the exact same thing over and over and over again... Connection dropped every 4-5 minutes (verified with isp's logs) Firmware is buggy and very very very basic does not even have a field for a static IP on the WAN.
Overall Review: Tech support actually said that thier RMA system was very poor and I should persue trying to return it to the retailer where I purchased it, Noting like saying get lost in a fashionable way. I decieded against it instead I calmly placed it behind the tire of my truck backed over it, swept it into a box and am mailing it back to corporate tomorrow... I have played with a vast array of routers over the years from the simplest bridge to full blown corporate firewalls costing thousands of dollars and I have to say this is the poorest excuse for technology I have ever seen. If..... you can get it to work with your ips's service it is only powerful enough for the smallest networks.
Works best on a mac
Pros: Excellent idea works very well on a mac. Quick archive and retreival of discs. Small foot print I have 5 of these units stacked. Easy set up and a fair buy for the money. using on a MAC I would give a full 5 eggs but if they are going to market it for windows machines some refinement is much needed.
Cons: Windows version of software crashes often. USB drivers hang which also hangs keyboards, mouse, printers, or anything else plugged into a usb port. The only fix is to restart the computer. Very poor design in terms of disaster recovery ie. If the carosel motor goes out recovery of discs requires dissasembly of the unit. they should have a removable lid.
Overall Review: I tried this on a windows machine first and was very disappointed. I moved it to my mac and am very happy with the operation. If the machine errors just quit the program open the program back up and it works again. the backup and restore feature is very simple and able to restore the database to a cross platform OS.
Dont waste your money
Pros: absolutely excellent rma and tech support for product.
Cons: We have had this scanner in an office setting for 11 months. The first scanner failed after 6 months circuit board went out. the company rma'd a new one with in 2 weeks we were back up and running again. The second scanner ran 2 months and the sheet feeder went down. company rma'd a new one to us in less than 2 weeks. Third one has intermittant connectivity problems. and will be rma'd right before the warranty runs out in a couple of weeks.
Overall Review: This scanner is a compelte waste of money. It is poorly built and will not withstand even the lightest use in an office envirnment. The company has the best tech support and customer service I have ever had the pleasure of working with, and I work with a ton of them. They however built a very poor product here.
