Pros: I do not own this laptop. Friend brought it to me today and asked me to put windows 7 on it. He had already tried and would not boot. Used the windows 7 install disk. Formatted drive and used most of the drivers from Acers site to bring it back to life. Most all of the Win 8 drivers worked fine except ethernet. For that saw what model broadcom put in it and found the correct driver from their site. win_k57_x64-220.127.116.11.zip All is working fine. Nice machine.
Cons: If you really crank on the cpu and gpu you will find how much you need a plug in. Two hours would be pushing it even with a not too demanding game. Bet a fully modded skyrim would eat it up fast!
Other Thoughts: This is just my six hour review scrambling the system and bringing it back to life. Nice machine and construction. Impressed with the resolution, graphics, build quality, sturdiness of power port (important with laptops). But of course YMMV.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Have 5 of these in a raid5 setup tower from Newegg. Since I bought them early did all the firmware updates noted in the reviews. No problems and they were faster than expected. Put 4 in my htpc and was happy again with the results. Quiet and cool and was surprised that the OS worked as well and as fast as it did with these "slow" drives. Threw the dice and put two more in my main desktop to run Win7 64bit. Again not to bad. Do no gaming on any of these and have been quite happy with the results. Quiet and cool all around and not too sluggish. One more purchased as a hot spare for the raid so now I am set. 11 total, 10 of which run every day, 2 run 24/7 for six months with no problems. Will report back if there is.
Cons: None so far.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: ASUS Eee Box EB1007-B0410 Nettop Intel Atom D410 (1.66GHz) 1GB DDR2 250GB HDD Linux
Pros: Quiet, with very low power consumption. Faster than expected with very decent graphics capability. Bought it because I had a family pack of Windows 7 64bit with one activation left and thought I would give it a try. Loaded up without a hitch. Added 2gig more memory and attatched it to the back of my monitor at my business. Runs Quickbooks Point of Sale, two printers, check internet for pricing and dealer sales programs all at the same time with no lag. Netflix is no problem either. I keep a thumb drive in it at all times to make easy backups of database programs and external drive with acronis to back up entire system twice weekly. Works as good as large desktop it replaced and you do not even see it on the desk. Very impressed with its ability.
Cons: None so far. Hope it has a long life.
Other Thoughts: It has worked so well I bought a second one as a backup system. Installed the extra memory in it also and cloned the first one. If the original ever fails, (all business systems do after a while) take thumb drive out of first one, plug in second one, back in business in less than 5 minutes. All for less than one decent desktop. Very happy so far.READ FULL REVIEW
